I was on weather.com earlier to check the weather and read an article on the website about the record snowfall. It wasn't encouraging. At the end of the article it said that 48-63% of the season's snowfall total occurs after January.
The snowfall totals here overall have been significant but so far we've escaped single snowfall totals over a foot. I really don't want any more snow as driving in and out of parking lots has become dangerous due to the high piles of snow that seem to hardly melt.
How do you all feel about two more months of snow equivalent to what you've already got this season?

Twin Cities, Minnesota here, and they're predicting sizable floods in the Dakotas & Minnesota because of all the snow pack. I do feel sorry for the people along the rivers.

I didn't even think of that. We have a bridge nearby that was rebuilt lower than the original and it flooded briefly in the summer. Oh joy, another thing to look forward to.

As it is, it's a leap of faith just leaving my driveway. The snowbanks are so high that I can't see if anyone's already on the road and they can't tell I'm about to pull out of my driveway. Two cars can't pass each other, one has to pull over. The main roads are mostly better, but all the side streets are just like mine. There isn't anywhere else to put the snow. At least 6 more inches of snow is forecasted for Wednesday. I'm really done with this.

I just pulled my snow tires off. It's just over a half an hour to swap them over. We need another good snowfall over here so I can see how they handle.

Freezing rain Tuesday and Wednesday. That's what we need a nice coat of ice on top of everything. I'm done with winter. Wednesday's storm was our first one with more than a couple inches but I'm done with it. I'm just happy to see nothing forecasted for Thursday. I am sooo getting out of this place come Thursday night at 5pm. I can only handle so much of these morons before I snap. They can't drive in good weather and I am sick of hearing about its always someone else's fault. Be a grownup and take responsibility for yourself.

TD I will gladly send you any snow Baltimore/DC might get in the future. My brother and his buddies were having fun Wednesday night off roading and driving through a foot of unplowed snow on some side roads. Oh yeah speaking of morons who can't drive in good weather, when they were driving on the road with a foot of unplowed snow, a Prius tried to exit a driveway onto that road. Really you think your Prius is going to go through a foot of heavy, wet unplowed snow? You would think people who are that stupid would have removed themselves from the gene pool by now due to their stupidity.

Ken, I doubt you fall into the category I'm talking about it. I try very hard to keep to my office where I work. If I spend too much time mixing with the other people and hearing about how its someone else's fault and the man is keeping them down I may snap.

We've had snow on the ground as a constant since December, but haven't had outrageous amounts in any single snowfall. The problem is temps have remained steadily below freezing so it's piled up little by little. Finally hit the 30's the past few days so the roads are a slushy mess by day and icy at night. This feels like the never ending winter.

wvu, I don't fall into that category although I was born and raised in Baltimore. I used to enjoy driving home from work during a bad storm in my 1974 Vega. For one it handled well and was a stick, for two everyone in expensive cars stayed away from me. LOL. I never got stuck. I'd put it in first gear, let out the clutch slowly and go up hills with cars stuck on the side.

I know the first snowfall is looked forward to much more than later ones.
December 8: 6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses print. So romantic, we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!
December 9: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea Ifve ever had.
December 10: Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life.
December 12: The sun melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, wefll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says wefll have so much snow by the end of winter, that Ifll never want to see snow again. I donft think thatfs possible. Bob is such a nice man, Ifm glad hefs our neighbor.
December 14: Snow lovely snow! 8 last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didnft realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but Ifll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldnft huff and puff so.
December 15: 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4X4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wifefs car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think thatfs silly. We arenft in Alaska, after all.
December 16: Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway, putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think is very cruel.
December 17: Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I shouldfve bought a wood stove, but wonft admit it to her. I hate it when shefs right. I canft believe Ifm freezing to death in my own living room.
December 20: Electricity is back on, but had another 14 of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Damn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they say theyfre too busy playing hockey. I think theyfre lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and theyfre out. Might have another shipment in March. I think theyfre lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think hefs lying.
December 22: Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white shit fell today, and its so cold it wonft probably melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and got dressed again, I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but says hefs too busy. I think the asshole is lying.
December 23: Only 2 of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What, is she nuts? Why didnft she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think shefs lying.
December 24: 6. Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch that son of a bitch who drives that snowplow, Ifll drag him through the snow by his balls. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles per hour and throws snow all over where Ifve just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was busy watching for the God-damned snowplow.
December 25: Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of the fuckinf slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think shefs an idiot. If I have to watch gItfs a Wonderful Lifeh one more time, Ifm going to kill her.
December 26: Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. Shefs really getting on my nerves.
December 27: Temperature dropped to -50 and the pipes froze.
December 28: Warmed up to above -30. Still snowed in. THE BITCH is driving me crazy!
December 29: 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it will cave in. Thatfs the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?
December 30: Roof caved in. The snowplow driver is suing me for a million dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to mother. 9 predicted.
December 31: Set fire to whatfs left of the house. No more shoveling.
January 8: I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me, but why am I tied to this bed?

SBS, feel free to drive to NJ and take some. Is NJ hogging it AGAIN?!?!? You should blame 97; she now has a snowblower, so Mother Nature just wants to be sure that it goes to good use. Actually the Rockies and ski resorts are getting hammered. ;D

Apparently our area had a record snowiest December, and combined with November's and January's snows, we've had the snowiest (or almost snowiest) winter total. And there's still 2 months left--March is historically our snowiest month.

I'm glad the next round, Tuessday and Wednesday, is predicted to be 2 to 6 inches plus ice. My Dad told me his area expects 18 to 24 inches and that may be a low estimate.

Dang that global warming! You would be correct. The areas that don't get hit this bad in the winter have been getting swamped, while areas where harsh winters are to be expected aren't having it as bad. With the rise in global temperatures that means there is more water contained in the warmer air. When the warm air meets a cold front, you have snow.

My area is to get ~18-20 inches of snow and of course it is going to happen on my way home from work when I have grocery shopping to do.

We're supposed to start getting snow at noon today and it is supposed to last clear till Wendesday! Prediction is 4-6 inches by tomororw night. Thank god I just keep banking leave hours because I have a feeling the daycare will be closed tomorrow. You know it'd be nice to use my vacation time for an actual VACATION once and awhile instead of having to burn it because I can't get out of my damn driveway because apparently the side streets are invisible to the plows.
