I'm just gonna say Everclear--that can cover most of their songs I had my first-ever margarita the other night. It was strawberry, blended, and super yummy. If my friend was trying to get me drunk, it worked (no, he wasn't, but since I had already had dinner when he showed up to surprise me and take me to dinner "for my b-day" I told him to take me out and he could have dinner and buy me a drink I'm a super-light weight when it comes to alcohol.

I'm not much on cocktails, rarely, rarely have them. I like beer and wine and of course, my beloved Scotch.

Lagavulin is one of my favs but I like a lot of them. I like the Islay scotches in general but you can go too peaty for my taste. I had a tasting ages ago of an Isle of Jura scotch, I still remember that. Wonder if it would be as good if I had it again.

I have a bottle of Bells in a commemorative decanter sitting on my mantle, issued in 1982 for the birth of Prince William:

Speyburn, 10 yr Cragganmore, 12 Dalmore, 12 Glenmorangie, 10 Bowmore, 12 Nadurra (Glenlivit), 16 Macallan, 12 Laphroig, 10
And a bottle of Yamazaki, 18 from Japan. It's an interesting taste, something like Scotch but it's not Scotch. It's definitely a hmmmm drink when you have some.

I love a good single malt, Glenmorangie is my favorite. However, the foulest stuff I have ever tasted was Tomtalin. Black scotch is OUT for me.

<<Glenmorangie, 10>>
Ever try the 18? Best I've ever had.

I've never had a black scotch and haven't ever thought "OMG, that was awful". However, there are some I would pass again if the peat is too much. I had a bottle of Cardhu years ago that I thought was too much on the peat as I recall but then, that was a lot of years ago.

I will say I'm a Macallan man myself. I also like Oban.

You ever bought on-line? I've seen some good deals on scotch and just wondered about it. I so do not need to really find out more about it. My GF already gives me grief (good natured) about the number of bottles of Scotch I have. Especially as I don't really drink that much.

Not yet. I've seen great deals online, but I do have enough to last me quite some time.

Oban is nice as is Macallan. My older brother drinks Scotch as does my step-father but my Mom won't touch the stuff. My GF tried a taster of my Scotches one night, there were a couple that she didn't mind (not to say she would order one) but lots she just pushed over to me to finish.

If you don't like peat, then you'll hate the black scotches. That's where much of the color comes from.

I like peat, just not to extremes. It's like hops in beer. I like hops but in here in the Pacific Northwest they seem to see how much hops you can shove into a beer and it's too bitter for me. Boundary Bay here makes a Best Bitter which is usually what I drink when I'm there, the others are even more hoppier.

Giggly but not yet stumbling. If you want me to be drunk and not sleepy though, you have to give me lots of caffiene (viagra= vodka and red bull) and it is better when I haven't been up since 4:30 and had a full day at work...

<<I like hops but in here in the Pacific Northwest they seem to see how much hops you can shove into a beer and it's too bitter for me.>>
I've tried some of those beers, and I don't care for the ultra-hoppy either. I make my own beer, and I prefer a red or mild brown ale. I generally use two ounces of Fuggles for bittering and one ounce of Saaz for flavoring, both are pretty mild hops and Saaz has a spicy note to it.
