Please read your policy....read it thoroughly!!!! Which one? The Flood Insurance policy from FEMA? I did. What is it that you are trying to tell me, Lassie. Is Timmy drowning and it won't be covered? And where have you been?

Male collies have fluffier coats and therefore photograph better, or something

Apparently, I'm a little slow on the uptake today - that reference to the TV show went right over my head.

Here's a slap in the face. We are piling sandbags around our house and an ins. salesman comes by and tries to sell us FEMA flood ins. that won't go into effect for at least 30 days. Two neighbors took the deal.

Artemis - Are you in La? If so - stay safe and dry!! And hurricane season lasts until November so the ins. may still be needed. Hopefully not though. Plus it's good for a year so they will be ok until next September. Taz - She's another in Florida. How could I have forgotten TAZ?! I LOVE her!! But I just checked and she's ok. Still no Florida Yankee. I hope he's out having fun. Ride - I'm doing laundry, writing the final checks to close out probate (meeting with the lawyer is this Friday) and reading the news. See? - boring!

Two neighbors took the deal. Sell when everyone's in a panic, good job on the income dude. Unless they come to their senses and cancel before it goes into effect. I hope they all do .

OldTex - If you are not in a designated Flood Zone Flood insurance is very reasonable! I think we now pay about $300 a year. It's worth it for the... wait for it...I had always hear (& it could be wrong) that insurance companies always argued about what water damaged the house. Usually they don't cover rising water, nor the damage that it does (like mold). Again I could be wrong because I've never had a policy for any water damage. Our town is more or less flat BUT our house is located on one of the 6 or 7 hills here. If we got water damage they wouldn't be able to pay up because most of Texas would be under water.

You really don't want to hear tornado sirens at 0300 in the morning. You have to scrape yourself off the ceiling and you can't get back to sleep either. I've experienced earthquakes and tornadoes. I'm not sure whether it was worse to be awakened in the middle of the night by sirens, or to be thrown out of bed onto the floor and watching the doors change shape while the whole house shook. Ain't no fun either way!

Mold is covered in our h.o.'s policy. We live near a lot of water (large pond out back) many lakes and a river close by. So I err on the safe side. We get flood warnings similar to hurricane warnings so we'd leave before we'd actually drown. I think!

Our insurance covers next to nothing. They don't cover flooding due to a broken water pipe outside of your house. (pipe broke underground and the water seeped into the basement) They don't cover flooding due to sewer line being plugged up. They have sent out letters stating that black mold will no longer be covered.
I called them to told them to cancel my flood insurance . . it doesn't do me any good.

POM, I just emailed you and Cheesy. So glad you guys are ok! I got it and responded. And thank you! Beags - It's only an additional $48 a year for ins. coverage for sewer lines breaking, back-up, etc. The policy I have only covers up to $10K but I can get additional if I want it. I really don't thing it's necessary as I have a healthy emergency fund but I'm glad to have it.

We are fine in our neck of the woods (or should that be palm trees?). From the radar yesterday, even though the storm center was closer to the west coast, it appears that the east and central areas got a lot more rain. I don't know how things are in the panhandle. Thank you for asking!
