Those of you that actually have winter know what I mean. I do the normal cycle with nylons. Wear them with dresses and skirts until they get runs. Then wear them with pants until the feet get runs. If they are thick enough, then wear them as long johns with socks.
But what brand is the best value? I find the dollar store deals good for under pants but they just look like carp with dresses and skirts. And to pay $7 for a pair that you only get one wear with a dress with. Help!!!

I'd say go with tights rather than pantyhose. They seem warmer to me. And I've always had them last longer than regular pantyhose. I've had pretty good luck with what ever brand Walgreens carries when I've needed them. I also never wear a dress or skirt in winter unless it's a special occasion.

Before I retired, I had your same problem! I started getting mine at www.onehanesplace.com! The more you buy at once the cheaper they are. I also started wearing the light support as they lasted MUCH longer than the regulars! And a hint here....put ALL hose in the freezer for 24 hrs. before wearing! It increases their wear life & deters runs! And another thing...did you know that hair spray will stop a run like nail polish? Disclaimer...I am in no way, shape or form connected with one hanes place. I've just bought many, many things from there for years!

Martivir sometimes I wear tights but it is a totally different look than wearing nylons. I'm not sure I'm a tights kinda girl.

I haven't worn nylons since I quit my job in 2005. (grin)

I used to order them from the Hanes Factory Outlet. They were very cheap and the only "irregularity" was usually that the tag was sewn on crookedly or some other little cosmetic defect. I think once there was a pair or two that seemed to have one leg longer than the other -- but nylon stretches, right? Here are a couple of sample prices from www.onehanesplace.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/topCategories_10151_-1_11001A four-pack of L'eggs Sheer Energy Waistband Free Control Top pantyhose for $12.49. A three-pack of Hanes Too Control Top pantyhose for $11.49 Are those good prices? I haven't bought pantyhose for at least seven years now. You do have to factor in shipping charges, which start at $5.99. On the bright side, Mr. Rebates will get you a 4% cash-back and free shipping if you buy $75 or more at a time. Note: You can get activewear, bras and other items from this site, so it shouldn't be hard to get $75 worth at a clip. (Heck, I didn't realize that pantyhose were as expensive as that.) Oh, and if you don't have a Mr. Rebates account please feel free to use my referral: www.mrrebates.com?refid=411769

Make sure they have spandex so that they snap back. Hose often get snagged because they don't fit close to your legs. Personally I like tights better and K-Mart and JC Penneys have great tights. (Cheap.)

Wear boots and skip the nylons.
In the summer, wear sandals. Sandals won't work in some offices.
Edit: Wear slacks all the time with knee highs.

I don't have a clue on nylons any more. We usually don't wear nylons down south any more - or at least not in my circle of friends. It sure put a lot more money back into my budget.

JCPenney has the best nylons. I buy the ones with the So Sheer, reinforced toe because I normally wear pumps. They last forever -- just wash them by hand. They are sturdy and don't "bag" -- I think there is a lot of spandex in them.
