Let's see, a book written by me, for men's benefit, in a male dominated world. Yeah, I'm good with that.

This kind of thinking really ticks me off. Its a symptom of an overly sympathetic and over accommodating government. Enough already.

Should this be allowed or not? -------------- Not. It's ridiculous. The Hasidic community here wanted the YWCA to black out their windows because their young men going to Hebrew school might catch a glimpse of women exercising. Don't like it? Don't look. Read this with a generic "you" and from a "generic religious/philosopy" position - I do not know exactly WHY men should be screened from women (from a religious perspective). I always wonder about this... if a man (or anyone else) can't be expected to CONTROL themselves why do I (or anyone else) have to do it for them? If your religion/philosophy wants you to keep from thinking 'bad thoughts' or being exposed to something that isn't acceptable or whatever - then YOU should put on blinders/restraints or whatever else it takes to keep yourself "pure" or whatever. If you're gonna give me the responsibility for YOUR thoughts/actions (making me dress/act/whatever a certain way) then you better damn well give me the AUTHORITY to dictate YOUR actions. I will NOT accept responsibility for your actions without having the authority(the FORCE you to do the right thing) to go with that responsibility. Women in particular often get saddled with being 'responsible' for other people's actions (men's actions in particular) but have NO power or authority to go with it. That's WRONG. Remember - generic 'You'!! yes, yes, and YES!

Atsiaru, this comes from the Bible when Eve tempted and cajoled poor Adam into eating the forbidden fruit. The two were then expelled from the Garden of Eden. Note, Adam wasn't responsible for his action. Adam trusted Eve but later found out that she was evil. So, Adam lost everyything because to a woman. Men have learned, from this Biblical verse, to never trust a woman. Never be trapped in her evil web. Never look at her with equality. This all comes from the Bible. You can believe me on this. I'm a Man! Oh MU! You silly man. Admit it, you want someone to tell you what to do and to coast thru life with no responsibility/authority.

Thanks MoneyJenny. As this is EE - maybe I should also state that since men (in particular) have such little self control (are beasts) maybe we should start recommending that men be chained and caged. You know Leash Laws for men....

Having a dress-code inside their privately owned business is their right, I suppose - the result will most likely lead to a decrease in revenue and traffic into their store. But it should not go beyond their doors out onto the public street and be imposed on the general population. Maybe we can slowly get to get them used to the real world by organizing a World Naked Bike Ride day in their neighborhood the next couple of years. Yr1: faint at sight of 1st naked bicyclist; Yr2 hold out for a few more, and so on. For the record it is totally legal for a woman to be topless in NYC. How about a topless walk through Williamsburg?

They might not lose any business. I suspect their temple will 'spread the word' about what a great risk this person has done to honor God and his peeps will rally around and keep the business up and running, at least for a while.
As far as them making rules in their community - I suspect we could find examples of things based on Christian traditions that we have lived with forever and ever and it was all because someone lobbied on God's behalf. We are just ticked off that it isn't a religious belief we are comfortable with.

They are already most likely doing your laundry, cleaning the house, and keeping the calendar and making sure you look presentable in public.... Odds are she can't keep you from all bad behavior - like getting drunk with your buds and womanizing - which is where NOT having run of the neighborhood (being leashed when in public) would come in handy...

Off topic, but this reminded me that last week I learned that at least a couple churches in my area have the men in their congregation sit on the first couple rows of seats so the preacher doesn't get distracted by women. Ummm...... that's interesting.

Sounds like a couple of preachers are in the wrong job if they can't talk and see a woman at the same time.

This kind of thinking really ticks me off. Its a symptom of an overly sympathetic and over accommodating government. Enough already. It reminds me of what happened in your neck of the woods. Wasn't there an Oriental community that blocked the building of a palliative care/hospice center in their neighbourhood, because they didn't want to be harrassed by ghosts?

I don't blame you. I would go over there but Moon just wants me here to keep better track of me. Whenever I try to leave, my ankle bracelet goes off. I also think the people over THERE are limited in their financial acumen and short sighted in critical thinking. OF course I do miss you! Like sort of dog misses the fleas...that were just it's and now...nowhere to be found! Good to see ya! Don't wanna be ya! (I know it was corny but I don't caaaaaaare!!! This place sucks anyway!!!)

That's like being requested for a game of four-hand bridge in solitary confinement, MU. There's no substance to it. Oh, and you'll have to go to an Amish farm and pick up live chickens when you get there.
