It's been a bit over a month since my last cat died, and since then, I've been experiencing some weird things around the house that didn't happen before. 1) I'm sitting on the couch watching TV and see a cat-sized shadow moving underneath the dining room table. I go to investigate and there's nothing there. The new kittens are upstairs. 2) A few days later, DF says she saw something similar. Since she's a woman, I dismissed this as hormones. 3) At one point, we both hear a meow coming from the kitchen. Again, the kittens are upstairs and they don't make that sort of meow. It was a cat meow and they were still making kitten meows. 4) Yesterday evening, I'm going up the stairs (the lights were on) and see a small shadow dart down the stairs right by my legs and disappear. This happened in a split second so I'm not sure if I was seeing things or not, but I usually don't see things like this (evil clowns are another story ). 5) This morning, while upstairs getting ready for work, I hear a loud crash from downstairs. I was the only one in the house. I go to investigate and nothing was out of place. This is the first time I've heard this noise since I've lived there (i.e. it wasn't the furnace kicking on). The kittens haven't reacted strangely to anything so far. But if they saw something weird, they'd probably try to play with it rather than get all defensive and hiss at it, and they try to play with everything, so this isn't a good indicator. The male kitten did once take a big rancid on the chair that old cat used to sleep on. This was the only time he hasn't used the litterbox so maybe he was trying to claim the chair for Spain. So given all of this, do you think my old cat is trying to contact me from...<< ominous voice >> beyond the graaaaaaaave! Weeeooooooooeeeeeeoooooooo!! << rattles chains >>

Yes. You're doomed. You'd better get your affairs in order now.

I've got 2 big dogs--even a ghost cat wouldn't come near my place.

Either that or he'll play with my living cats and everyone will be happy.

At least a ghost cat would be an explanation to my dogs barking at nothing.

I had a cat I loved dearly that was killed by a car. A couple of months later, I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. As I sat there in the dark, I saw what I took to be our other cat walking about by the vanity, and thought nothing of it. Then I noticed the other cat sitting off to the side, watching the shadow cat. The shadow then vanished. It didn't freak me out, she had just come back to visit us.

One of my deceased cats comes back to visit - but I think it is to freak out the younger brother she tended to beat up. No visual sightings, though.

After my Calico died I could still feel her jump on the bed at night. But no cat was there. DH was out of town some times and I was completely alone and no other kitties are on the bed when this happens. This has been going on since she died over 5 years ago. So now I just say "Hey Mandy! I'm so glad you joined me tonight."

my dog would visit me in my dreams after he died. The last time was the night before we went to get our golden retriever puppy.
