What is your visceral reaction when you see that little thing whether it's a relation or someone else's?

Been there, done that. DH and I managed to have creatures in our own image. Wretched, sarcastic beings, just like us. I'm satisfied.

Love babies! Just got 2 new nephews in the last week, so yea! And it helps remind me that I still want to wait a little bit longer before DH and I have our own.

My real reaction is to wonder how their parents/school/society will ruin them.

Right now my hormones are still trying to convince me it'd be a great idea to have another baby. Anytime I see a newborn in the L&D unit after I get done pumping (where the lacation room is), my first instinct is "Awww! I want another one!" By the time I get down the stairs I ask myself what the hell was I thinking! Stupid hormones trying to convince me labor wasn't all that bad and I should have another one. Evil mother nature. I love my daughter to death. I told DH it honestly never occurred me that I could love something as much as I love her. Not everyday is a dream come true, there are days when I've wanted to send her back to the baby factory, but overall I got lucky with a really mellow little baby whose pretty fun to be around. Gives me an excuse to be a huge dork and let out my inner child without it looking quite so stupid and embarassing my DH.

Two babies are better than one. Only children aren't necessarily less work. Every baby should have a sibling.
Labor only lasts a few hours/days. Siblings are forever.

Yeah yeah we hear that all the time. Care to carry the other child for me?
Cause as it stands right now that's how another is going to show up.

I lucked out and didn't find pregnancy that difficult. I didn't enjoy it - but I did what I had to do. I know some people have a really tough time with it and all sorts of health problems, so that sucks. But the perils of a normal pregnancy plus the perils of the first year of each baby are easily forgotten as time goes on. Usually those are short-term annoyances.

Why? They do buy them. Costs about 50k when it's all said and done. It isn't a surprise, is it? Adoption isn't free or cheap.

Pregnancy sucked. I was constipated, I had fire breathing heart burn, I threw up everyday, I had sciatica, my feet swelled up so much I couldn't wear shoes, and I overproduced histamines so I itched all the time. If I hadn't accidentally gotten pregnant the second time, I would have only had one I was so miserable.

It's expensive but worth every penny. I'm sure we will be asked to contribute and I know that we will. DIL is Chinese so I THINK that might smooth things a bit. At least they can stay with her family for the month or two that they have to be in that country so that lessens the expenses. They have a boy already but a nasty pregnancy so I'm excited for them to get the new baby. It'll be awhile as they just had their boy a few months ago but said even before he was born that they'd be getting a girl from China.

Okay. Actually, it's one of my former students who told me this. She said it took so long between her and her sister because her parents had to save another 50k before they could get another one. They went in the summer so they could take her with them. They came back that fall with the new baby. So freakin' cute!!! I can't wait to buy little girl baby clothes!!!! They must know about the paperwork. DF says we won't contribute but I KNOW I can talk him into it and if I can't then I'll contribute myself. Well, she was in 4th grade so maybe she was confused about the amount and time. I'm excited as these will be the only hint of small children for a very long time.

International adoptions are more expensive because you have legal and bureaucratic fees in two countries, plus the costs of travel.

Now I get it. You do this on purpose for the reaction. Whew!!! I have to confess that it kind of bothered me that you were allowed to be around and/or teach children with things you post. But I know there is NO way in hell you don't have the good sense to know that is inappropriate to say. Good one, Zib!! You really had me there for the past two years.

Pregnancy and labor was easy for me, but he was preemie so the weeks after that were pure hell for a while... So, who's going to raise a sibling for my son, cuz it sure as hell won't be me. When someone else changes the diapers, pays for school/food/utility increases/etc, I'll have another one (actually, I won't, I can't, but DS was always destined to be an only child).

My first reaction when it's someone that is approaching me to show me the baby is "please don't let it be ugly....please don't let it be ugly....please don't let it be ugly...." I suck at lying, I can't get it out and it's all awkward! So, when the (extremely rare--thankfully) ugly baby is shoved at me all I can say is "oh wow! this is your little girl/boy? Such a cute outfit (or head of hair, or....)" My sister called my ex-SIL's baby a mongrel...she was right--I was so glad I had divorced the girl's brother before her baby was born, I don't know if I could have handled it. Hopefully she's gotten better looking by now--while I hate the family, my ex-husband and his brother were pretty good looking and ex-SIL was cute herself, but that baby...!

Crap, they better get started then. I hope they know that. That would actually be perfect. One child would be 3 when they got the baby.

glad it is behind me, glad they are going home with someone else. DW is an OR nurse, whenever she is involved in a emergency C-section she comes home all warm and fuzzy, got to hold the baby etc..
