So I have been seeing a few status updates on FB that say 'Free J', who is my BIL. I sent a text to my sister at work, but no response. I did get one back though asking me to pick up invites for the niece's party. I'm talking to my brother a few minutes ago and when I ask him he tells me that BIL was arrested for moving his (unregistered with an out of state license plate) car during alternate side of the street parking.
My BIL has a suspended license, they can't afford to payoff the $1,300 or so he owes the DMV to get it back. My sister doesn't drive. The car is unregistered, but he keeps the plate in the trunk for when he drives it someplace. It's not even a 'down south' plate like MD or NC, which are common in NYC. They haven't been able to afford the insurance on it since they bought it last March with their refund. He used to keep it out in Queens, but there has been a lot of construction out here lately, and he ran out of empty lots, so it's in Brooklyn.
Saturday night, he came into his apartment bragging about how he had just told off a few cops, who were questioning him about the car. I thought it was kind of a stupid thing to do when he was in the wrong. So sometime during the last two days he was arrested. Now he's going to have to get out (still unsure when/how/if that's going to happen,) the car is going to be impounded if they haven't already, and he has another mark on his record. FWIW, I told him to sell the thing over the summer, but instead he put another speaker box in the trunk.
Anyone else have a ridiculous arrest story?

I've got a million of 'em, but I used to work in a jail. We had our share of oddballs come in through booking, for sure. One "lady" who was picked up for drug-dealing and prostitution turned out to be the child of one of our brass. I am using quotes because said child was a pre-op transsexual (male to female). After processing, paperwork and bond was paid, child was released. Came sashaying out of booking in a dress, heels, full makeup and styled hair. Looked far better than I ever did dressed up.
