You should know by now that you take you're taking your chances if you're going to start a thread on EE. ;D

I'm planning on getting something simple, most likely titanium. I'm not a big fan of wearing rings though. The last one I tried to wear was my college ring about a decade ago and it felt weird and I ended up fiddling with it constantly so I stopped wearing it. I suppose this one's a necessary evil.

No it's not. I don't see why you have to wear one if you don't want to.

No it's not. I don't see why you have to wear one if you don't want to. Yeah, well, it depends on how DF feels about such things. TBH I haven't even asked her. If she has any weirdness about it, it'd be way way down on my list of battles worth fighting.

He doesn't like jewelry, I'm not gonna force him to wear something he finds uncomfortable.

JennML is gonna have a hard time finding someone to marry her with those expectations.
I was in college when I asked my wife to marry me and she went for a simple solitaire ring with the wrap wedding band. I was happy with what she chose and hopefully she still is:)

...these are exactly some of the questions that come to mind... 1. wearing a ring at all... why or why not? 2. what kind of ring wouldn't "look like" a wedding ring? 3. do you wear what spouse wants, as a gesture, or what you want, as it's your finger?

Ok, well that's you. Like I said, I haven't asked DF about it. Her dad doesn't wear his so maybe she won't care one way or the other. But I think that she'd be a bit disappointed if I didn't wear it, at least initially, even though she probably wouldn't say anything. Symbolism and that jazz. So why go there? It's a friggen' ring. Besides, it might have the added benefit of keeping the wayward fugly coworker off of my back (see my thread about touchers).

Were I ever to marry, I would like a claddagh somehow incorporated. But if your friend isn't of Irish heritage, likely not her thing. I have a handmade gold and white gold wedding band. It is a fairly wide band with an inset white gold claddagh with small diamonds on either side. It goes perfectly with the platinum and diamond engagement ring that belonged to DH's grandmother.

My wedding band is a plain gold band with the emoticons DH and I used to use in emails engraved on it. I'm wearing it now because DD, bless her 2.75 year old heart, told me I HAD to wear it.
My e-ring is a sapphire stone with 6 channel cut diamonds set in the band. I think of the sapphire setting as a solitaire setting but I don't know much about jewelry though.
Take into consideration what she does. Does she do a lot with her hands? My ring kept poking the kids so I stopped wearing it. And does she prefer colored stones? I didn't want a diamond and I told DH that.

My wedding band is a plain platinum ring; engagement ring is a three-stone princess cut (0.56 ct middle stone, 0.78 ctw) in white gold. I'm having issues because, while I love the style of the ring, I can see the difference in color between the white gold and the platinum (white gold isn't truly white/silver; it's got a faint yellowish cast that you can see clearly after the rhodium electroplating wears off). I hate the discoloration. But I'm procrastinating on what to do about it, because I can't decide whether to try to track down an identical platinum setting or just upgrade...leaning toward the latter!
I know I can get it replated...but it'll just wear off again, and I'm too lazy for regular maintenance.
