On Neal Boortz's show, substituting for Neal. He is standing by his endorsement of Newt. He says that unless Mitt starts to get 40+ percentages, the voters are saying they don't want Mitt, and we'll have a brokered convention.
He is still on the ballot here in GA for Super Tuesday, but he is telling everyone NOT to vote for him, but vote for Newt.
I have already voted in early voting here in GA. I'm a poll worker, and I work the poll I would vote at. So, I can't vote on Super Tuesday. So, early voting for me.
He made the point that when he was in the race, he was the first candidate to really start talking about what he would do as President: 999. And since he's been gone, the discussion has gone back to bickering and back stabbing. He says that when Newt starts talking about the "grand ideas", he does well. When he starts trying to defend against the attack ads that Mitt runs, then he does poorly.
And, he suggests that now that Santorum is doing well, Mitt will be running ads against Rick, so that gives Newt a chance to steal the spotlight if he will stay out of the dogfight, but pitch more "grand ideas".
By the way, Neal is a personal friend of mine. 25 years. He and I used to go skiing together. Oh, sure, he's loud and obnoxious, but that's just Neal. It was not unusual that we'd be in some restaurant in Vail and someone would suddenly twist their neck around almost double because they suddenly recognised his voice!
I also met Mr. Cain once, around 1996. He spoke to the GAREIA general meeting. (GA Real Estate Investor's Association.) He was pushing the Fair Tax. Way back then.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I miss Cain. I believe he was an "honest" candidate in that he strongly believes that the current President and Democratic Party are taking America down the wrong path. And that "an average citizen" with bold ideas can set the train back on the tracks to prosperity rather than Socialism.
I will say that had he remained in the race, he would have had my vote.
