Am I wrong to expect honesty and ethics in law enforcement? The lies and cover up in fast and furious, the actions from DOJ, and ATF. When are these people going to be held accountable for their actions beyond maybe losing their job? Hundreds of people have been killed because of them. How can we have any justice when it does not apply to them?

When are these people going to be held accountable for their actions beyond maybe losing their job? Hundreds of people have been killed because of them. How can we have any justice when it does not apply to them? My kids are under ten years old right now, and believe it or not we largely stay off politics around them. I consume news and politics when they're not around. I say only nice things about the President- even Obama- and I try to teach them respect for the Office. I still want them to have the same awe of that post I did when I was coming up. My parents hated Jimmy Carter, but you'd never have known that when I was a kid. In all of this mess the day I least look forward to is the day it dawns on my kids that the politicians are dirty crooks and liars. Because it's very hard to teach kids respect for the law when there are people out there for whom the rules do not apply. We simply have to return to the principles that made us great- the idea that rights come from God, not government (and I thought Rick Santorum hit it out of the park on this during the last debate: The Declaration is the what, the Constitution is the how-- or something like that), that we are all equal before the law. The law applies to you, and the law applies to the President just the same. I suppose we all learn the lesson at some point. I'm just really shocked and dismayed that my government is selling guns to a drug cartel and that people are dying here as a result.

I'm just really shocked and dismayed that my government is selling guns to a drug cartel Really? We've been selling arms to tyrants, dictators, puppet governments, rebels, and revolutionaries for decades. It really shouldn't be surprising at this point. I'd be willing to put money on the fact that we'll find out decades from now that the CIA is actually supporting one of the cartels in Mexico in order to bring stability to the country. We have a long proud history of pulling crap like that.

Scottsdale AZ police officer shoot and kills unarmed grandfather holding his grandson! This police officer has been involved in six other shootings and five deaths. Scottsdale police state all of the shooting were justified. Just what would an unjustified shooting be?
AZ Dept. of Safety, ( State Patrol) Suspect on the ground on his stomach handcuffed behind his back. the DPS officer was sitting on the suspect, suspect was not struggling , Shoots suspect in the back of the head killing him.
JUSTIFIED SHOOTING, involuntary reaction of the officer's trigger finger! So now what is a unjustified shooting?

How could he be holding his grandson while handcuffed? Threw me for a second also. It is two different situations. oldcoyote is just apparently copying and pasting from some website that collects data on police shootings. It would be appropriate if a link was posted.

It doesn't take long for kids to figure out here are rules for peons and rules for others, especially cops, who are always breaking the rules of the road. Speeding is the biggie.

Mind you, just arming them through channels in Turkey, no feet on the ground.

Sorry. Someone holding his grandson to use as a human shield got what was coming to him. An unarmed man was holding his grandson as a "human shield" so the cops wouldn't shot him for disturbing the peace so the police shooting him in the head was a justified police response?

One of the principle exports of this country is arms, all the way from Boeing tomahawk missiles to automatic rifles. The same has been true of the Soviets, and even the French (Mirage fighters). But cheer up. another major export item is tobacco. If it were not for these two, we would have a very serious trade deficit problem, which we do anyway! This country's international trade has been based on tobacco for hundreds of years. If you tour the nation's capitol, you will find that all the beautiful columns are decorated with carved tobacco leaves. If the rest of the world suddenly wakes up and realizes that everything we sell will kill them, if used as directed, we may be in big trouble!
