missing my kids (14 & 9). They are at there dad's and step-mom's tonight and I won't get them back until about 10 a.m. No cookies out for Santa, no "snow shoe prints" on the porch, no excitement about the morning. Just feeling sorry for myself right now. Sorry. I know that there are people who are worse off than I am, but it sucks. I am thankful that later today I will be surrounded by my loved ones, and that lifts my spirits. I wish everyone here a wonderful holiday season, and may all your dreams come true. Thank you soooooo much for being here through the years with all the laughter and the tears. You guys are my sanity and keep me grounded.

Don't worry. I'm sure the kids will be excited to see what santa left at your house. My kids were always excited to see what santa left at Grandma & Grandpa's. You can still leave out a cookie plate with crumbs to show them santa was hungry....

DS is 14 and decided to sleep in. It was weird to not have him bouncing around and excited this morning.

sues - we swapped houses/dates for years, so to us it is not so much what date you have the kids, but the 'together time' and having the spirit of christmas on whichever day you have the kids. Just as a side note, it was good prep for me for when the kids are grown and have their own families - because then you have to do the same 'sharing time' dance. One of my DDs moved out of state with her DH and that was harder than any holiday coordination since she was many hours away and not easy to visit. This year is the first year we all got to spend the holidays together, but even so, they did Significant other families on the 25th and "our family" christmas is the 26th. I guess I feel like it gives my family a more complete holiday if we share well

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't back to you sooner. Thank you for your kind words. I was just in a funk about stressful finances, since eh lost his job one year ago, it been tough without the child support. That and the kids were with their dad and step-mom all week, so I was lonely and not use to the holiday routine. Usually the kids are only gone from Friday evening until Sunday around noon, every other week, not a week at a time.
Plus the insomnia, due to stress, is not helping. But it was nice to know that I could reach out to people here and receive positive thoughts.
Again, thank you for being here for me.
