I have the flyer and there are a few BOGO's that I would def use, so now I am looking at online coupons, what site is legit and Publix would take. I also read www.publix.com/pages/Page44.dois there anything in there that I need to worry about, especially as I will be taking advantage of the BOGO's, that is after I make sure that the same thing isn't cheaper at Walmart even with the BOGO.

You probably won't get a lot of replies today. I don't have Publix so I'm not familiar with their policies. Best idea to start would be to go on their website and read their coupon policy. Most important info would be: Do they accept Internet printed coupons? If so, is there a limit on how many or the $ amount you can use in a transaction. Do they allow 2 coupons on a BOGO item? Do they double coupons? If so, up to what $ amount? Is there a limit to how many coupons will double. Is there a limit of like coupons per transaction? Do they accept a manufacturer coupon and store coupon on the same item (most do). Do they take competitors coupons? The store near my mom in FL does.
As far as finding coupons online, probably the best resource is hotcouponworld.com. They have a database with links to all available coupons. They will also have a message board specific to Publix. You could also google Publix, your area, and coupon match ups to find a local blog.
Feel free to join us on the Grocery Challenge, if you haven't already. And, I just got some Publix coupons when I was visiting mom in FL. I can't use them and would be happy to send them to you, if you want to PM me your address. Just let me make sure they aren't expiring at the end of the month.

You could also go to Hot Coupon World or A full cup or we use coupons and look in the forum for Publix. They will more than likely have a thread that already has good deals listed. Not sure if you have to create an account to look at their threads though. Best of luck!

Thanks contstanz, just getting into this saving route. We normally go to Walmart but do pick up things from Publix prob at least once a week, DH creamer, bagels, meat and chicken that we can't or don't want to get at Walmart. I have no idea where to start but as DH told me he had to go to Publix and I had a flyer I thought I would give it a go, it certainly is time consuming though. I have to check how much we got something at walmart last week and then see if the BOGO or flyer AD works to save us money. So far what I have it does as it all stuff we buy and I can freeze it....WOOHOO

If you shop a lot at WalMart, make a list of the items that you buy there regularly, and jot down the prices of those items the next time you're there. Then you'll have a list already handy when you need it. Then in the weeks to come, pay attention to the Publix weekly ads. When you see an ad price at Publix that is less than your regular price at WalMart, jot it down and highlight it so you know that that item does go on sale cheaper at Publix and you can start purchasing it there instead of at WalMart. Pretty soon you'll just start knowing when the price is the lowest that you've seen recently or in a very long time. In the meantime, be sure to save the manufacturer's coupon inserts from your Sunday paper. Date them in the right hand corner of the insert. Try to get extras from family, friends, and co-workers. If you can get 3-6 sets a week, that means you'll have 3-6 coupons to use when an item you use goes on sale at a rock-bottom price. And by all means, come join us on the Grocery Challenge. Do not be intimidated. Newbies join us all the time and we're happy to help them out in any way that we can. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you from me - dancinmama!!

Yep, I already have an excel spreadsheet with prices, who knows why I do these things. I think it started to make sure I got the right price, then to see if things were getting too pricey, then to add up unusual items that we wouldn't normally buy. Maybe I just have too much time on my hands...LOL
Happy Christmas dancinmama from us here in North FL, plus the corgs too.

iheartpublix.com lists the ads every monday with coupon matchups. The ad starts on Thursday so you have several days to get your list and coupons together.

If you've already started a price book, you're well on your way. Pretty soon knowing prices will be second nature to you. Like you said, take it SLOW. I usually get my very best deals at the drug chains, but yesterday I got a great deal on beef tenderloin at Safeway. Regular price was $14.99/lb., sale price was $9.99/lb. and the clearance price that I got was $4.99/lb., which is unheard of for beef tenderloin. I bought over 6 lbs. and it will make for some really awesome and extremely cheap steaks. ;D

Well I don't think that went well at all, I def got too much, those BOGO's really get me. Also the 3/5, 10/10 etc thingies. Plus an online friends uncle passed so I was sobbing through all of it. Will def. do better next time, it was kind of fun apart from people looking at you funny like "get a life kiddo!!!"........LOL

southernsavers.com is also a good site for Publix coupon deals and matchups. She also has a tutorial for all things publix at the beginning of each Publix post.

Naggie...here in NW FL...Publix has a true B1G1, so you have to get 2 of the items to take advantage of the deal you can't get just one and have it be 1/2 price. The 10/10 or 3/5, etc you can just buy 1 or 2 of the items if that's what you want. Ck your Publix to see which competitors coupons they take. Mine takes Target and Winn Dixie, the one at the other end of town accepts those and from a couple of more stores. You can use 1 manu/and 1 publix or competitors coupon on each item, mine accepts them on B1G1 also, which can make for a sweet deal. They will also accept one Publix dollars off entire purchase and 1 competitors dollars off for each transaction. Mine does not double and I don't know if any in FL do. I've also noticed that most of the blogs ie Southern Savers or I heart Publix are out of Atlanta so make sure you ck your ad prices to see if it's a good deal for you. My prices are higher than theirs. But I do ck them to see what coupons are available & to see what they consider a good deal. They are typically higher than Walmart but if I have the right coupons it makes Publix worth it, and their produce/meat is so much better. I also use the commissary since DH is AF, but not often since it's not convenient and by the time the commissary adds on their 5% surcharge it can be more expensive for some items, since we don't pay sales tax on food. But I really like my Publix, they are very friendly unlike Walmart. I went to Publix on Fri and yes it was busy w/holiday shopping, so my bagger was actually the General Manager and he was so nice, just makes for a more pleasant experience. Just go slow, I tried to go gung ho my first few trips to Publix and over spent. The B1G1 will get you, so go w/a list and stick to it.

Oh well buggar me, I thought I had to buy like 10 of em. They were stocking items like mad fools Christmas eve so I think the BOGO were going quite well. For example of my naughtiness I got a pepperidge farm BOGO cookie, I did look and make sure I got the most for my money IE ounce wise/most expensive cookie wise but I would NEVER buy pepperidge farm cookies really.

For example of my naughtiness I got a pepperidge farm BOGO cookie, I did look and make sure I got the most for my money IE ounce wise/most expensive cookie wise but I would NEVER buy pepperidge farm cookies really. The trick is to purchase the products that you use regularly in advance of need at the lowest price possible so that you're never paying full price for anything. When something is BOGO, chances are it will be BOGO again in the future. If the item is something that we use regularly and I have none in the pantry, I MIGHT pick up (2) @ BOGO. If I have coupons that I can use, I might get (4) or more depending on the value of the coupon and how cheaply I can get the item using the coupons that I have available taking into consideration how often we use the product and its shelf-life. Anytime there is a really good price on a product that I would never or rarely buy anyway (like Pepperidge Farm cookies) I will buy them, but only because they are free after coupons. The goal for me is not to "just" build a stockpile; it is to build a stockpile, patiently, over time, at the lowest price possible.

PPFFFTTT the cookies aren't even all that good but the BOGO kettle cooked salt and vinegar chips are gone.
Now I have some time I am going to go over the Christmas eve grocery shop receipt that started this thread, and see where I went wrong.

Invest your time to take steps to make your next trip better and then the one after that and the one after that. midwestern joined us on the Grocery Challenge a few months ago and she has been gradually getting her grocery totals down ever since then. You can do it too!!

OMG after typing in excel all the prices and stuff I can't find the spread sheet and I am devastated I must have lost it, I had prices and sizes. It was to compare the prices as people were saying prices were going up and sizes down. Also it was to be able to have totals for other goods than food and totals for one of things like a birthday gift....OMG it took me AGES.
