Christmas school vacation, that is.
At 1:10 p.m. my teen-age darlings became free from the yoke of education and are on the path to turn me into a babbling, drooling shell of my former self what with their moodiness and need to be driven everywhere or have friends over 24/7.
I do love them, but, they were more fun around the age of 5.
January 3rd is a long way away...

I have one but he doesn't care about having friends over. As long as Facebook and unlimited texting exist he's good to go. This may change when he gets a driver's license but until then, I'm going to enjoy it.

Glad you folks mentioned this. We have kids on the block. I will be watching for crazed-looking parents sitting on their roofs, guzzling cheap wine to escape the kids for the next 10 days or so.

Thanks Goldengirl.
Welts, no public transit here. Thankfully almost all of my kids' friends live on post not too far from us.

Arghhhhhhhh! My special needs son has gotten sick two or three days before the two week break for three years in a row. I think he does it on purpose (j/k). Soooo, instead of 14 days, I get 17. I'm a sahm so I'm half insane as it is. And my husband wonders why I sometimes act like I do....

My kiddo has been out of school since last Friday. Friday night & Saturday night there was a houseful of teenagers. Apparently they all had to check in at their own homes on Sunday, just to return on Monday. On Tuesday night, they all invaded some other poor parents house for the night. Tonight the group size is cut in half...there's only 3 extra teens here now. And they are only here at night...during the day they caravan in redneck pickup trucks & go out to terrorize cows in fields, the streets, WalMart employees, and whatever poor friend ends up working the McDonald's drivethru window. This is the benefit of having a teenager old enough to have friends with their own transportation. I didn't even have to take kiddo to take his entrance exams yesterday, he & 2 other friends planned it out to take them together & 1 of them has a truck. *happy dance for me!* I've been told that tomorrow night is the last big get together (here of course) before Xmas, but they already have plans for Monday...midnight bowling...lol

Our schools are in session until the 23rd. The mall will fill up as will the theaters. Most of the kids sleep late into the day. The college kids are working or partying.
This too will pass.

Tomorrow is the last day before Christmas break for my kids. If I'm not on here much, it's because the kids steal the home computer to talk on Facebook. Good thing I actually like the little buggers...

Steff, I normally have a house full of teenagers too, but right now most of them are out of town for Christmas break. My 15 year old did stay the night at his friend's house the other night, but my house has been free of teens (except for my own) almost the entire break. My 10 year old DD did have a friend spend the night the other night, but now that friend is out of town too.
We aren't going anywhere for the holidays. We bought DSD a plane ticket to fly down and see us. She arrives the 26th and we are super excited.

Bahahaha! I have fond memories of the first day back to school, either after Christmas break or at the beginning of the school year. Now, she lives at my house and I live with the bf. That'll teach her to move home!

That is totally the reason I was up with the grands. After 4 days my DD needed to call in the reserves to save her sanity ;D
I do believe she's going to axe murder me if I smile and say "paybacks" one more time - mwahaha

I finished up all my shopping today, dragging my kiddo & one of his friends along with me for jollies. It can be very entertaining to listen to them & watch them out in public. I'm sure I didn't help matters by forgetting something and offering $1 to the winner who ran back and got it and got it back to the register first...would have thought I offered $20 the way they took off running thru Target. I'm sure laughing at the grocery basket races didn't make the old fart on the exlax aisle think I'm a great parent. but oh well...lol I drug 2 teenagers, in the pouring rain, thru Home Depot, Target, CVS, the grocery store, Dollar General & out to eat at a Mexican restaurant...and they never once bitched, whined, complained, or turned moody teenagerish. Had a lot of fun with them today.

good for me - no school busses to avoid when leaving out later in the mornings for work.

Gah..........I'm trying. I quoted it and now............
A million years ago I took 4 kids to Toys R Us....my brother's 3 hellions and my (ahem) angel, all 4 of them under the age of 8. Best kids in the world after I told them I had money for them AFTER shopping if they were good.
