Mich meant that the chills she felt would be more in line during the cold month of February.
WTF is wrong with the damned manufacturers of the hips!! My husband had a shattered leg reconstructed with plates, screws, etc. At the time the method was rarely being used in the United States because of infection issues. The surgeon chose to bombard my husband with antibiotics...... I think at the time it was Keflex which was new.
What I am getting at is why didn't the surgeon(s) keep you on perhaps a course of low dose antibiotics for the duration of healing time?
Very frustrating for you and on my end very disconcerting since I am looking at a hip replacement.
Keep up the good work of demanding answers to every one of your questions. You are the patient not a crush test dummy.

Sorry I've been so long in responding. I've been caught up in a total waste of time that the client wanted me to attend. Last night I had to go to a dinner and got back home at about 10:00 pm after being on the road to their place at 7:00 am.
Yeah, it sucks Mich has a contaminated hip. That's just a pile of **** she doesn't want to go through again. Don't know if the implant or the hip was initially the source of the infection but it's pretty much a moot point. She's pretty bummed and understandably so.

The infection travelled from my body to the prosthesis, so I really don't want to bash a company that is not at fault. The original surgeon is not at fault either. The joint has long healed, there was no need for antibiotics. I'll get TD to respond, if he wants. I don't know why but this is upsetting me too much.

Well, bad news for Mich and her hip. She really didn't want to have to go through this any time soon and sure as hell not this soon. She has to decide where the implant is removed. She'd prefer to have it done out here as she was really impressed with Swedish but she needs to find a surgeon she is willing to trust and can fit her in. Having a bacteria infected implant isn't something you want to walk around with any longer than you have to.
She might get it done in Kentucky but then she needs to line up people to help her out while she recuperates and that will be for a while. First she has to recover from having the implant removed, the bacteria infection then taken care of and then a new implant installed and then recover from the second surgery. I can get out there to help but 6 weeks is just the start.
Sigh, not good news all in all but you play the hand you get dealt. No point crying over spilt milk.

I'm really sorry this has happened to Mich, TD. No fun at all! I do hope she can get it done where you can help her out. The recovery time is lengthy in a situation like this, and having someone to care for you is really necessary. She'll have to make the decision that's best for her, but I really, really hope she can take advantage of the opportunity to have someone who really cares about her near while she's going through this.
She'll be in my thoughts and has my strongest wishes that everything goes well!

Mich and TD - I am so sorry this happening. Mich - you have been through so much with your health and with the timing of everything with the holidays around the corner - really sucks. You will be in my prayers for a speedy, successful recovery.

Aw, Mich. Got a lot on my plate, but not so much that I cannot pull for you as well. I wish I had more of me to go around for everyone who needs help and really deserves it. I get so mad when I don't have the ability to do more.
