Meh ... there's a lot of other great acts I could think of that would be a better pick.

Well that just sucks! Talk about desperate decisions. Now my gay friends will refuse to eat the half time meal I'm putting on and pay attention to her. UGH! Hell with it I'll reduce the amount I'm cooking.

It was bound to happen. I hated last years half time so it will be exponentially better as far as I am concerned. I suspect she will know enough about past acts to mind her p's & q's... or t's & a's.

Since they're obviously not shooting for young talent, I'd much rather see Rod Stewart rocking the half-time show with some of his earlier classics.

Whoever books these half-time shows has a real knack for choosing artists that are a good 15 years past their relevance.
A 53 year old Madonna still pretending she’s 25…UGH. Football is more metal or country than pop (and I don’t really like metal or country all that much).
Maybe the cheerleaders could put on a good burlesque/cabaret type show with some circque du soliel acrobatics and visual effects. Or a marching band from a local high school. I’m not losing sleep over it.

I think the powers-to-be are trying to please the most people possible. Madonna would not be my first choice either, but I suppose they figure she still can perform, and even though she's no kid, she's still a "big name" act. She's on the border of being a nostalgic name, but still recognizable to the MTV generation.

Yanno, that Tony Bennett looks good for a guy his age. Still rather classy, too. Always a nice dresser and a good guy. Oh yes, and he can sing, though not the way he did when he was younger, of course. I give him a lot of credit for knowing his voice is not what it was. I don't think he could handle the requirements of singing in a stadium, but how about pairing him with some younger talent? It would have some appeal across age groups. He did some singing with Amy Winehouse and has performed with other young talent, so why not?

My mother thus declared him "an awful man". I'm not a Madonna fan, but will take her over Tony if only because my mother called them as she saw them. Holidaaaaayyyyy, if we took a little time...

I read that there are going to be Circ de Soleil (sorry about the spelling) performers as part of Madonna's half time show. It might not be so bad.
