I am not a huge country Music fan but will be watching. I hear Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are hosting. Who are your favorites?

as much as I like country, I can't stand that song. not sure what it is about it, though. I Zac Brown Band, I feel like he almost got his start on the music cruises I take. we all feel like we've seen him and the boys grow up. <swoon> as far as other favorites, I'm digging everything Miranda Lambert's put out lately. from the guys, Phil Vassar is up there. I don't know if I'll get to watch the CMAs, I'm on a business trip. I am in TX, though, where the hotel muzak is mainstream country stuff. I'm sure I'll be able to find it being shown somewhere in this hotel. ;D

I am with ya on Miranda Lambert...I love her, along with her hubby Blake Shelton (swoon) I have just here lately starting dabbling more into country music because I like all kinds. Also A big Keith Urban fan....

I actually like a lot of the current (and past) Country singers -as I'm sure a lot of people here do. I especially like Trace Adkins and his deep voice. I'll probably tune in to see some of the performances. It starts here in about 15 minutes.

Of course nobody here is watching it. says the woman that touts Lady Gag-Gag after having a few with the work crew, I managed to catch the last half hour or so. yay for Miranda on that last award, and I'm stoked to see the kid win the final award of the night. she seemed very genuine in her acceptance speech, so that's very cool.

I have to say Taylor Swift is really growing up and has improved so much and she gives me chills to hear her sing. The Band Perry are awesome also...I am starting to really listen to more Country as I can relate to a lot of the lyrics. So many great Musicians. I will not give it away to the ones who haven't watched yet. But I think Taylor done an awesome acoustic.

I caught bits and pieces. Must say the male country singers are some fine looking dudes. Long way from Waylon, Willie and the boys I may have to start watching country videos And country today is more pop not like the days of "hillbilly" music which I just can't stomach!!

I agree...I've been listening to Country on youtube all morning. Just clicking on stuff I've never heard and I really am growing to like it more. I really love Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Trace Atkins, Keith Urban...Lady Antebellum...I may have crossed over. The men are definitely hotter!

Another great band from last night. They ran away with half the awards.

I missed the award show. I basically forgot it was on. Anyway I switched over to country about 15 years ago & love it. I do not like that new Rascal Flatts-Natasha song. It really grates on me. I love both Brad & Carrie, but didn't like their duet at first. Her voice seemed to overpower his, but it has grown on me. I'm very impressed with The Band Perry.

Watched some with the kids, just not all of it. I did love the couple of songs Brad and Carrie did at the beginning, with Hank Williams Jr and that guy from Modern Family.....

That was one of my fave's of the whole night. Of course I'm a huge Rascal Flatt's fan and I love Natasha's raspy, soulful voice. They were both powerful singing with one another I thought.

Rascal Flatts is hit or miss for me. I prefer a deeper male voice & they are pretty high. Some of their songs are good. I've never heard of the Natasha chick, but I'm guseeing she is pop. The song is way too pop sounding for my taste.

So Taylor Swift was the big winner last night. It is hard to believe that she is only 21, it almost seems like she has already had a full career...and she writes most of her own music, which for country is out of the ordinary.
My idea of country is Steve Earl, but then that's just me.

I think the Band Perry's song of "sharp knife of a short life" has to qualify as one of the most depressing songs i have ever heard. Snerds...Gimme a break. Broaden your horizons and listen to something besides GAGA!

fair enough, snerd. I'm sorry for your (and your town's) loss. I have a friend who still can't listen to a song by Creed - "My Own Prison" after a HS friend committed suicide during their senior year, and the song was one of the deceased's most frequently played. if you've never heard the lyrics, they describe someone judging themselves pretty harshly for their own mistakes. I can see how "If I Die Young" might strike a nerve. if you would like to see a different side of the band, I suggest checking out their next single - "You Lie" to change it up. they are quite talented, IMHO, and you might find you like them.
