reenee: Gotcha!
money: kids are doing well. DS#1 is getting better at going to karate for me and is in gifted Math and Language Arts. When they have gifted science and social studies I expect he will be in those also. He is having a blast hanging with his cousin on the weekends. DS#2 is doing well at day treatment. DD is growing tons and enjoys hanging with mom. She is a stubborn thing.
Gotta go DD is having a fit.

Update: 2 NS + 3 CS = 5 of 26I know it was Gin's birthday this past weekend, but thinking about it, I haven't seen anything from her here, on her blog, or even on FB in a while. On my lunch break today I'll send her a note to see if everything is ok... Honey: Give yourself a day or two to just be. Hope you're otherwise doing fine. financialpeace: Have fun with the move I know you've been financially prepared for your job to end, but still, make sure you give yourself sometime to just be, before you get on with the next round of changes I'm hoping to take Wednesday off as a mental health day and just have some time all to myself (with the puppies, of course) just being a bum. Hopefully, that will help get me out of this funk I seem to be in.

MrsL: YAY! That makes life easier since I read your blog all the time and try to comment frequently anyway. I can't look at google.docs at work, so I'll have to get everyone added when I get home this afternoon. Oh, and I noticed yesterday that you are BELOW 200k on Alexa! All your hard work is paying off!

shanen--i do the same with yours. i love your new site, btw! i love how it features all of your different writing. you are so damn talented. and feel awful for you for that guest post you had to put up. it was so below your standards of grammar and comprehendable english.
i can't believe my rank. i'm at 144k as of this morning, and it was one of my november goals to break 150k. i think i'm done obsessing over my ranking now.
i'm up to 5 staff writing positions. i need to calm down and focus on my blog, too. but i'm trying hard to build up as much of a savings as i possibly can so that i can eventually have steady income and a cushion to fall back on in order to quit f/t employment.
everyone else--i have a giveaway going on my blog right now. i'm giving away the $5 dinner mom's cookbooks. please feel free to enter! (fwiw, i bought the books with my own money and am in no way affiliated with her site. i just love her cookbooks so much i wanted to share them!)

Update: 4/20 $0 Days Spent the weekend relaxing at home and doing some crafty type projects around the house. Nothing too exciting but things that were on to old "list". Was nice and peaceful to have all weekend and no schedule. Friday was brutally long at work. This week should be pretty mellow. DS has a Model UN meeting tonight but it's only like 5 minutes from the house so it's a drop off/pick up 2 hours later type of deal. Hoping the week goes smoothly. reenee: that week will work out fine for me. I have it noted on my calendar so I don't forget. We really need to get through this week and next week without any snow! We have a few projects we need to finish up and can't do it if we get a blizzard. I really hate winter. The cold, the snow, the driving on the snow and ice. I miss CA's weather every minute of a MN winter.

Hey all!
I'm here reporting for captain duty. I'll post QOTW and COTW a little later. I'm having a day from heck here dealing with stupid computer developers who for some reason require 2 different formats for the same piece of data. I'll be back once we have a solution.

mrsl: 5 staff writing position! You're even busier than I am (but I knew that anyway, since you have your lovely DD). Thank you for the compliments on the site. I'm pretty happy with it for now. I'm looking forward to being able to do a new flash fiction project, hopefully early next year with a local artist. That will give me book #2, and this time maybe one that will even make money. As for the guest post, guess what it would have looked like if I hadn't done some pre-editing. It was all formatting type things. Since I don't think the writer is a native English speaker, I decided I wouldn't edit the grammar, but given that I title myself author/blogger/editor, trust me, it drove me crazy not to.
sheila: Ahhh, the reasons I will never live in MT again (which are very similar to MN winters.)
dakota: Don't you know that developers are little gods? It must always be the way they want it when they want it, otherwise they might actually have to do some work... (I say this being good friends with a number of developers)

I am so glad that most of our group is doing well. I hope someone gets in touch with Gin and that she is alright. DB is strangely civil. I am waiting for the blizzard to hit. Been too busy to spend any money. Lots of appoinments and working on the computer. Been using mom's computer some too- but hers lacks some of the programs I need- which gets annoying. Not been spending. Almost have my layaway paid off. New bedroom suit! Decided to forgo new sneakers for right now since I have my leather ones- but they will have to be replaced in the spring since I will have no more sneakers in reserve- then I will have to buy 2 more pair. (Wet summers mean one on, one drying) Grandmother and I are trading Christmas trees this year to save on expenses. Hmmmm.... My brain is in neutral right now.

Update 4 NSD
Today was a planned spend, chiropractor, lunch and I may be picking up a webcam (mine is really grainy and if I can find a good one that's not too expensive I'll pick it up and test it out tonight).
On a planned whim I also reorganized my office by moving 6 bookshelves... yes I'm a bibliophile. I have three that remained in the same place but the others did a little shuffle. Then I rehung some pictures and I'm still deciding if I should rehang the door tonight.
OH and I still need to pack for my trip, decide what I'm wearing for the interview tomorrow and eat dinner. Can we fall back another hour?

money; How about 3cats+1 ;D. I am feeling like something is going to happen but I don't know what. I don't even know if it will be with me and the kids or just with me. They haven't done anything that would warrant that feeling but I just don't know. It might even have to do with work but I just don't know. update; 3 NSD, 3 CSD, 1 EOD

Final October numbers are up. I'll do more with November in the morning. Today was day 6 of what will be 8 days in a row at work. I'm exhausted. And I've had a steady slow nosebleed since dinner (nothing drippy, but when I blow my nose I can tell, sorry, that's a bit gross). I'll have this coming Saturday off, but I doubt I'll have any energy to go and do anything fun.

reenee- Is it possible you have a sinus infection? That kind of blow my nose and it bleeds thing is usually one of the first signs I get (even before all of the other pain and grossness).
Running errands, doctors for DGM, doing a big sale for work today (I have the link up on my FB pages- up to 80% off) until supplies run out, doing stuff at DGMs.

Morning all -- We are having beautiful weather during the day. It is wrecking havoc on my sinuses. The right side of my face throbbed Sunday. The migraine was slightly better yesterday, but the pain went down to my neck. Today is much better. Tonight I am going to my first ever NHL game. An early birthday treat. I walked yesterday. I'll head out today in a few minutes for today's walk. In my shopping for my master bedroom redesign, I found a chair and ottoman for my sitting room. The money drain continues for Nov, but my master room will come in just under budget.
Hugs to all who need them.
FP -- good luck with your move. mizbear -- wonders never cease! 3 cats -- yeah for the cat not being preggers. mrslynch -- congrats and continued success with your blog! start -- happy travels. I totally get placement of items and then rearranging them. I"ve been doing some of that myself here recently. Now, if only my bed would get here. sheila -- I'm on the no snow bandwagon with you! dakota -- how is mini D doing in school?
Happy Tuesday all!

7/31 NS MK--of course it is a CS! Dakota--Yes we got about 4 inches of snow last week. It was all melted in two days. Today's possibilities of snow did not materialize and there is a possibility of more the beginning of next week. Spruby--the LTC packet is 75% done and should be finished by this weekend. Money--you work with some talented students 3cats--I also have been having the premonition of "something is going to happen" as well. It is a bit unsetteling. Of course the world sitiation is giving me some upset too. FP--I hope your move is smooth and uneventful Sapphire & Smartstart--be very careful home decor and remodeling/decorating can be veeerrryyy expensive as I have personally discovered
I think winter will be soon arriving. I heard a flock of geese heading south last night that were flying so low I could almost count each individual goose.

Rant- Feel free to skip- I knew things were going too smoothly- DGM fell tonight. This time she really did it up good- she has broken her hip, bummed up her arm (doctor said if the swelling does not improve by tomorrow he is going to have it x-rayed too, as the injury was discovered later), hit her head, did more damage to her already screwed up back, and her neck hurts. Oh yeah- and a couple more inches towards the door and I would have been climbing over her, out the bathroom window, back in with a screwdriver and hammer and taking the door off the hinges so the paramedics could get to her. OY VEY! So her leg is in traction, they have discovered she is anemic, she is allergic to most of the standard pain meds for this sort of break- and she most likely will not survive the surgery needed to repair it- but will definitely not survive without it because she will be confined to bed/wheelchair permanently. It is likely this will be the dealbreaker in her staying at home because we have no wheelchair ramp (the contractor never came through with the plans) and my mother can't take care of her like this and do her chemo round- which starts in 2 weeks! Can I hit rewind? Like back to last night when everything was going really well except the fact I couldn't sleep?
Sorry for being Debbie Downer- but I know if I vent to you guys - A) I won't go spending money (my manic/stressed habit) B) My rant won't end up on FB by some well-meaning friend.

Sapphire- sounds like fun! I'm glad you're excited about decorating your master bedroom after being in the house for so long! I still have to paint mine but it'll be another year at least. I want to finish the ceilings throughout the house first. It's not an expensive project but messy and time consuming. Since my dad is still off work we're slowing knocking out the old to do lists. Ses- I'm not doing any heavy decorating, mostly crafty projects for which I already have the supplies. When I'm back in town I'll be doing glass etching! Mizbear- sorry to hear about DGM get some time to yourself in the midst of the chaos. My Expert Interview- yesterday was so much fun! The interviewer was great, we joked about him being a scumbag, got some amazing content and will release the interview next week. I'll definitely post that on my business website so if you'd like the address send me a message and i'll get you the URL

Morning all -- Today I will be walking in a 1-mile charity walk at lunch. This is our last day of beautiful weather for a while. Fall is beautiful here when it's moderately warm and the leaves have changed colors.
MK -- Your clothing purchase was a necessity.
SES -- I did splurge for me for the master bedroom, but it will be beautiful. I spend so much time in my room that it really should look like a sanctuary, but alas, for all these years, it has looked like an extension of college living. A few more pieces and then I'll take a break and gear up to actually do some of the small remodeling projects in preparation for selling it. I'm one of the few people that needed to add things to the house for selling. The good news is that when I move, my smaller place will be fully furnished. I have been humoring myself, by looking at expensive furniture and accessories. LOL.
start -- Thanks. My inspiration actually came from the Bellagio in Vegas. The hotel is remodeling its rooms. To most, many won't see where my room looks anything like the Bellagio. When are you coming to DC for a mini vacay? You would have such fun taking pictures of the monuments and people in the city. Congrats on your interview!
mizbear -- hugs to you and your family. So sorry to hear about DGM. Hope everything works out for the best for all.

Okay- Is it bad that i have already lost track for the month and we realized the other day that mini-D is too big for his current car seats. He exceeds the weight limit (I thought the limit was 45 and it is 40) and is within a half inch of the height limit. So in the next few days we need to get booster seats for both of our cars. QOTW (I hope we haven't done this one already): When do you shop for the holidays? Do you shop all year or do you wait until Black Friday? COTW: Make sure you have a budget/savings for the upcoming holiday season. If not start planning for next year now. Sapphire- Mini-D is doing great a pre-school, after those rough weeks around Labor Day, he hasn't gotten a bad report at all. I do think separating him from his cousin helped too, since they tend to block the rest of the world out when they are together. We have parent-teacher conferences tomorrow night, so we'll find out in detail what he has been doing. MK- Sounds necessary to me. I kept thinking I needed new bras, but last night I cleaned out my underwear drawer and found 2 still with tags on them that had gotten shoved to the back of the drawer. Start- Glad your interview went well. MizBear- Sorry about DGM. Prayers for you & your family. SES- Please keep that weather in your area and don't send it South until around Christmas. Thanks! Reenee- Hope you are feeling better. 3cats- Hope you are okay and doing well. Shan- I've spent enough time working with developers that I'm used to it. I'm just glad I'm working with one who I don't need a translator for. There is one at our web developer who uses tech speak for EVERYTHING. Supposedly they will have a fix done and ready to be tested today. Shelia- What country is DS representing in Model UN?

mk- Yeah that would be necessary to me. mizbear - Sorry about your Grandma. Things have been very busy around here. The visit with my parents was a lot of fun, but way too short. I have pictures up on my facebook page. DH was suppose to get a job, but some church issues have become a full-time non-paying job. Fortunately his term on the church board ends the end of December, but nothing like going out with a bang. On top of being the chair of the faith development team (Sunday school/youth group) at the end of last year he got roped into being the chair of the personell committee. He was told "all you have to do is reviews". Yeah right. He's had nothing but issues and the church only has 3 paid employees - pastor, custodian, and youth director and only the pastor is full time. On the custodian end there are some peronal issues that some people in the church - people we consider friends and the people the roped DH into being chair of personell - want the custodian gone. DH finally stepped in on that and said look knock it off. SHe does a good job and put your petty differences aside and get over it. So issue one is "resolved". About the middle of the year issues have come up with the youth director. She and her DH (a member of the church board) are members and have 2 DS. One is 5 days younger than our DS. The issues with her have gotten worse and the decision came down last night to "not renew her contract" at the end of the year. Some of the information that came out of the meeting has been unsettling to me (unexplained charges on the youth group debit card and then it came out that the fire department is investigating her DH for potential drug use - and it "extends to the household"). And finally with the pastor - nothing major here - but the presbytery has recommended that pastor's get a paid sabatical every 6 years. She has been with us for 7 years. I'm all for it as is DH, but there is a lot of personell issues that have to be worked through and there are some people who think it is ridiculous. Anyway, back to work. Lots to do (thank god - a year ago we were scrambling, but it looks like things are going to be busy through the winter).

QOTW - I try to shop for Christmas starting in November and just get it done when I can. I end up looking in catelogs for ideas for the kids since I don't go shopping that often.
COTW - I have $300 cash saved up. Of course if I end up ordering a bunch of stuff online (which I may end up doing), it might end up biting me in the rear.

Update: 6/20 $0 days
Counting today since hopefully it will end up being a NSD. Had to go by new sheets last night for our bed and of course MW3 or something or other came out. DH and DS have been obsessing about getting that game and had it on pre-order. They used their allowance so it didn't bother me.
Been pretty crazy busy at work. Wrapping up for the season. This should be the last big week of work for our guys. Few little things for some to finish up next week. I have tons of paperwork and reports to do for these projects still. My slow time is the month of January. Then we start gearing up for the next construction season and all the bidding and contracting starts up again in February.
QOTW: All DS wants is a laptop for Xmas. Found one on clearance at Walmart for $500 that is actually a decent computer (17 something inch monitor- set up is perfect for his gaming) and we are getting Miss Pants a Wii. So I put them on layaway. Have to have them paid off by the 16th of december. For the other nieces and nephews (yes Pants is way more spoiled then the others) I pick things up during the year.
COTW: I have it planned out to pay $75 a week to get DS' and Pants' layaway paid off. The other kids we have a budget of $25 per kid (have 3 kids I have to buy for) I refuse to go into debt for presents so I have never put anything on a credit card. Normally I wouldn't spend as much as we are for DS but it's honestly the only things he wants for Xmas and has been asking for one for two years.

mizbear: So sorry to hear of your troubles. Poor DGM. dakota: Don't you hate it when things like that sneak up on you. I really like the boosters with the backs. Graco makes the ones I like best and they are good up until 100lbs. My 8 YO is still in one even though he technically can ride without one. It is nice to have one with out the back also then if you need to move one to someone elses vehicle or transport another child it is nice to have. So I bought the clothes. Also bought a pair of shoes for winter as I wore my mules out. It looks like we will be having our floors on our main level (except the bathroom and kitchen area) done. We are having laminent flooring put in. DS#2's waiver is putting it in since the carpeting is no longer sanitary. His room needs to be done but as he jumps off his bed with no concern for his safety the padding of the carpeting is more of a necessity. This morning went to Moms N Muffins at DS#1s school. Was fun but had to run back and bring him snack as he had run out and not brought anymore. He puts it in his locker and it is his responsiblity to tell me when he needs more. Trying to get some responsibilities in him.... Had fun even if he was quiet during it. He is SO not a morning person.

Muttley: Yikes. That is way too much drama to be involved with! Good for him for sticking up for the custodian. How many members in your church?
QOTW: I start shopping for Xmas and birthdays 12/26. Then if I find something throughout the year I purchase it. I HATE giving gifts just for the sake of giving and find this way I can get more meaningful gifts (not always but often).
COTW: I use our grocery money when I do this or money I have received for gifts. So it really doesn't affect the budget much. The kids get so much I give all the things I purchase from Santa. They don't notice the difference. I have a budget of around $20 per person. I just can't do more and sometimes those will be handmade/homemade gifts. This year my dad and his wife are getting the school year pictures as their gifts unless they want to pay for them and then I will have to buy them something. The only reason I would do this is my dad is very materalistic and may have a fit about the pictures being their Xmas present. I will also make gift bags with the stuff I get for free from my couponing. Then I make bags for all of the teachers and staff in the kids lives. Runs to be around 15 people there.

mk - There are about 180 members in the church but right now we only get about 60 regular attendees. Yeah it is a lot of drama. It has been nuts, but DH has handled it like a pro and he went back and looked at our book of order and realized that things (with the youth direcotr) have not been handled by the book and is now trying to rectify it. With the custodian issue, DH told everyone "You all are going to die eventually anyway" (our custodian is about 70 and those who are "plotting against her" are in their 60s and 70s).

MK- We can't have you running around nekkid... DGM- She is slated for surgery to put a rod in her broken hip today- however, she may not survive the surgery and my uncle M is wanting to fight her DNR order. I personally would like to break a few of his bones. If her surgery is delayed she won't live either. SHe can not sit up, she has another surgery she needs for her back and her breathing slows to a dangerous low when she sleeps with the only painkillers they can give her for the break because she is allergic to the traditional hip fracture PKs like morphine. So they can't really truly control her pain. Booster seats- I rode in my car seat until I was in first grade I think- I was at least in kindergarten- I know this because I remember getting out of it to get out of the car to go in the school- however- I was very small and my mother thought it was better to keep me in the car seat so I could see out the windows then have a car sick or doped up on dramamine kid all the time. TBear has been too tall and heavy for boosters for several years- she is the same size as I am at my normal weight plus a couple pounds- but needs the extra pounds to keep from looking too skinny- whereas I look a bit chubby at the same weight. ZBear is still riding in a booster. I do like the high back ones, but we keep ZBear in a belt positioning one because of her height. The othe one doesn't fit her properly and would result in back and neck injuries if we needed it. QOTW- I usually shop/craft throughout the year. This year I didn't. I haven't felt like it to be honest. I am not in a Christmas mood. And last night put me in less of one. Plus last year I bought one of my nieces a present and she turned her nose up at it, her mother coveted it to the point she put it on display in the living room and I found out the girls broke engraved lockets I gave them. They wonder why I give them presents like laundry baskets full of socks, underwear, and toiletries a lot of times. COTW- Funny this was the challenge- I was deciding what to do about Christmas. I may just do baked goods for the kids and call it a day. I know ZBear has asked me for a reasonably priced item fom my CH catalog (it's a light up globe with angels inside- think snowglobe with no snow), so I may indulge them. But I don't know. I don't buy video games and the like and that is what TBear really wants. I can't wait to find out who my Secret Santa is so I can start working on that project Waiting for word on what is going on with DGM, so we will see. You guys are the best!

QOTW; I started last year buying gift cards each payday so I have all gifts almost done. Actually I do have all gifts done. The rest of the cards are going for my pleasure, groceries, and whatever gifts I want for me. After making gifts for the ones in my life and having them given to the dogs or thrown out because a seam ripped an inch or for what ever reason thrown in the garbage, I refuse to give anything but a gift card to members of DS's family. I have made things for others and they are using them all the time. Even my GF uses my dishcloths along with the ones that she makes. COTW; With the rest of the gift cards, I will buy my groceries and use my paychecks to pay some bills off and down. I am going to start buying the cards again because I will have almost $1000 to buy my stuff next year. I think I am going to buy a gas card once a month which will give me $120 for gas in December '12. Maybe I can go see people then, rather than stay at home. update; 5 NSD, 3 CSD, 1 EOD.
