No, I am not kidding. Somewhere I have a picture of him doing it. Can you believe I took a picture of someone doing that and they printed it? I was reasonably sober at the time since I drove him to the ER. I can't believe I thought it was okay to see a guy lighting his behind!!!

There is a HUGE hornet nest on the side of my shedI had two big nests around my house two years ago. The first one I found when I was power washing the deck and I had a wasp flying around, then another, then a couple more and pretty quick more like 20. I let them settle down and went looking. Stuck my head in the door and there was the nest, about 2 feet away about the size of a basketball. Headed down to Lowes for some wasp killer. Pretty much emptied the can into it and took off to let them settle down and die. Came back a few hours later to check. Opps, lots of live, angry wasps. Back down to Lowes for another brand which was like shooting shaving cream. That killed them off. Later that day I found another similar sized nest up under the eves. I first tried using power washer stuck on the end of a 15' window washing extension stick I had  That just annoyed them a LOT. It definitely damaged the nest but the buggers just started rebuilding and they are fast. I had to shoot the foam out of the window to get them. That stuff was great. I found another hornet's nest and had to get rid of that one also. Bad year for wasps.

When I was a kid, there was no greater joy for us neighborhood kids than to find a wasp's nest to throw rocks at. It generally provided an entire day of entertainment, first knocking the nest off the roof eaves where they always built and then at the grounded nest that the wasps tried to defend.
We were easily entertained back then.
