Denny’s new Mac and Cheese Big Daddy Patty Melt packs on 1,690 calories with 99 grams of fat: an entire day’s worth of calories for some and double the daily fat.
The sandwich is part of the family restaurant’s new “Let’s Get Cheesy” line of six new dishes, which the chain helpfully describes as “traditional and unconventional cheesy choices covering, smothering, oozing and gooey with every dish.”
The cheesiness doesn’t stop there, though. Denny’s encourages customers to wash it all down with Strawberry Pancake Puppies, which are made with strawberry and chocolate chips, served with cream-cheese icing and (never “or”) a strawberry cheesecake milkshake.
The mac-and-cheese behemoth is a beef patty with macaroni and cheese, melted cheddar cheese and sauce on potato bread.
Served with a side of fries.
Are you freaking kidding me??

and folks will waddle in to Denny's and order it!!! I read a lot of the "Eat This, Not That" articles. Some of the crap restaurants do is And if they don't have the calorie/fat details on the menu, you have no idea how bad it is.

The sandwich, the pancake Puppies and cheesecake milkshake will be at least 4,000 calories. You have to walk about 8 hours to burn that off. Folks will waddle over to their car and think they're done.

Otherwise, why avoid having sex because you're afraid of a man seeing you naked?

Has anyone seen that new show "Big Sexy"? Is anyone else bothered by it? I've seen the ads for it. I am bothered, but probably not for the same reason. Some guys like big women, and they're holding these women out as some kind of freaks for being sexy and big. However, I still think they need to go jogging and not celebrate being fat. Accept yourself the size you are, but also accept that some of us are bigger than others.

Hey, don't pick on Cheesey. She's not here to defend herself. I saw that article, too. As someone trying to lose weight and get healthier (My mother and brothers are diabetics, dad died young of a massive heart attack), I admit I am ambivalent about some of what I see in restaurants. On the one hand, it is disturbing, especially without the nutritional information available. Not that you need a road map to figure out the new Denny's Big Daddy Patty Melt. Just knowing what's in it, you don't need a degree to figure out it's probably not good for you. We're the world's fattest country, and we're spending a fortune, now and in the future, on obesity-related health care issues. On the other hand, I'm not the food police. I cannot dictate to anyone what they should and should not eat. I've made my share of poor choices, and take responsibility. While I learned a lot of bad habits as a kid, I place no blame on my family; it's a little late for that, and serves no purpose. I do what I need to do for myself, and drool over the food porn stuff (the Big Daddy is definitely food porn).

I caught a bit of Big Sexy last night and got pissed when they kept calling smaller girls "twigs". WHY is it acceptable for them to call skinny women names, but god forbid you tell them their ass is huge. That's mean. I haven't seen the Denny's commerical, but I know something is bad when even my DH goes "Oh my God". The IHOP commerical for the caramel apple crap is currently in first place.

Even Red Lobster is classier than that.

In total honesty we stopped by a Denny's during our vacation in PA. I ordered the fried mozzarella stick grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread with a side of french fries. I can't even begin to tell you how tasty it was!(insert Homer Simpson drool pic here!) My Dd and her friend split a grand slam breakfast thing. I didn't have anything with it like pancakes or a shake. I think i had an unsweetened ice tea and my son had a water. My 8 yr old also ordered it. I also didn't eat it all. I ate half the sandwich and my Dd and her friend split the other half and my son helped himself to half of my fries as he had ordered onion rings. He did eat almost the whole thing plus some of my fries though. As long as you are not eating like that all the time is it really so bad?

Nancy - I think your av is food porn, but the Big Daddy thing makes my gall bladder hurt just thinking about it. Can anyone actually eat that much in one sitting without getting sick?

I don't look nearly as good as I could in a bathing suit, but I'm still wearing them, still going to the beach, still going to water parks. I've looked around, and I think I look better than at least 1/2 of the women there............

I love cheese too, but I try to eat it as a separate course, the way the French do. That way I taste and enjoy it. When you write about food, you have to make changes and sacrifices to eat and write. Otherwise, I'd have to roll around in a wheelbarrow. Note to TD: Those Kentucky gals kinfolk of yours? ?? ;D

I definitely have 20 extra pounds. I also don't wear a bikini. The sad part is I still look better than half the young girls who are wearing bikinis. ETA we are at the beach 3 or 4 times a week during the summer.

Amen! While I've got some belly going on, I can proudly say that I do not have a muffin top, nor does my belly spill over the top of my jeans.

I think serious athletes, whose metabolism can handle that many calories and that much fat, probably could. The average person could have some issues, though. I've seen some triathletes and football players put away a LOT of food. But they work out a lot.
I work out every day: I swim almost two miles four times a week, one mile one day a week, run four to six miles a week and bike 20-25 miles a week. So I have some double-up workout days in there. I cannot eat a Big Daddy. I might share it with two people, though.

I think 973 makes a good point. It's OK to get crazy once in awhile. In the big scheme of things, it probably won't kill you. As my doctor says, the 90-10 rule is liveable: 90% of the time, your body is a temple, and you feed it and treat it like it's sacred. 10% of the time, it's an amusement park, and you enjoy the ride.

"The answer: Deep-fried mozzarella cheese sticks smothered in American ]cheese and grilled between two slices of sourdough bread.
Sound like a good time?
That's what you get with Denny's new Fried Cheese Melt. The price is reasonable, too. According to The Eater.com, the sandwich, served with french fries and a side of marinara sauce, will cost just $4.
However, CBS News correspondent Jeff Glor reported the cost to your diet is 895 calories and 34 grams of fat."
Now I don't feel so bad after reading this on the fried mozzeralla cheese stick grilled cheese. It isn't nearly as bad as I had thought. ;D

The body is not like fine wine. We don't get better (looking) as we age. Just accept yourself as you are. Looking back at pictures of late teen, early 20 Swamp, I was hot. I had no idea, and I was so self conscious about every flaw or perceived flaw that I didn't enjoy what I have. The 40 something me has a few extra pounds, stretch marks, and wrinkles, but the difference is I like me for me and can work what I still do have.
