Since the primary season is coming up soon, I figured I'd ask a couple of questions
1. If you made the rules, how would you run the primary elections?
The only real issue I have with the current primary system is that I feel the first few states have far too much influence. The best way I can think to remedy this is to move the primary dates back and just have mass voting at a later date...either half the states one day and half the states the next day or just do them all on the same day.
2. Do you think all primaries should be open primaries, where anybody can vote for the candidate of their choice?
I can see both good and bad coming from it. The good is that candidates would most likely try to be more centrist and not need to appeal the the extremes of either party. The bad is those looking to find the person they consider to be the weakest candidate in order for their person to win the national election (i.e. a Republican or Democrat voting for the weakest person with no intention of actually voting for them in the national election).
3. Do you think there will be a lot of people voting in the Republican primary for who they consider to be the weakest candidate, with no intention of voting for that person against President Obama in a national election?

1. Indiana requires you to commit to a specific party, so you cannot vote for the other contenders. It has always been that way, so you sort of learn to live with it. Of course, you can declare theother party, if you want to commit a little interaction mentioned in #2. 2. No I do not think Democrats will vote the Republican primaries and do that

1.All primaries should be held on the same day, just like the general election. 2.No, you don't belong to my party, you don't get to participate in the party's nomination process - remember, that is what a primary is - the nomination process of the party. 3.Were you to open the primaries, that could happen, to undermine the parties.
