Did you say the ridiculous pic of Bachmann on the cover of Newsweek. Yeah, you can find a bad pic of anyone. They are so obviously lapdogs of the liberal media it is pathetic. Makes their magazine look like a bunch of juvenile idiots. Shines a brighter light on them than it does in besmirching her. I think she happens to look like that all the time. It's the eyes...reminds me of Ramona from The New York Housewives. Perhaps that photo may have been the best they could find or better yet, Newsweek should have arranged a sitting so they could get a photo that "everyone" would like.

She really is quite attractive but that picture is contrary for sure.

Rush Limbaugh latched upon the technique of pandering to the "angry white man, victim of the underclass", and hordes of two-bit demagogue-wannabes on the internet are channelling Limbaugh's disingenuous shtick. Wealth and privilege are misrepresented as the trappings of "victimhood"... ? Have we no compassion? surely we should pity the pathetic uber-rich, cowering in their gated communities... sleepless with anxiety over the fact that some of their wealth may be impossible to exempt or shelter from taxation.

However, the title of the article is "Queen of Rage," do you expect Newsweek to put up a glamour shot? I just happen to think that there is a lot of discussion about stuff I would deem insignificant, same as I would about what Michelle Obama wears on a daily basis, etc. Where in politics do they do that to men? Nowhere. I have never read an article where it is pointed out that some politician purchased his suit from Brooks Brothers or Jos A. Banks. It's stupid. Or, that Newt Gingrich looks like the Michelin Man and needs to drop a few pounds and dye his hair. This is sexist at best, no matter what side of the "aisle" one is.

Frankly, I think many women in politics (no matter their party affiliation) are treated poorly by people in the opposing party. I can't tell you how many rude comments I've read online about Michelle Obama's clothing choices, weight, butt, etc. And on the old MSN Money board (hell even here) a certain group always said Hillary Clinton was a lesbian, looked like a lesbian, had cankles, bad hair, etc.. "No wonder Bill cheated on Hillary." Nancy Pelosi looked like a mad woman. And poor Senator Barbara A. Mikulski. Rarely heard a peep about male democrats' appearances. Their politics yes-their appearance no (except for John Edwards' haircuts). I think many conservative men (and some women) are frightened of liberal women in politics..

pepper: Oh no, I was just agreeing with you. They had better pictures but chose that one. Oh and the "Queen of Rage" was uncalled for. Look what they did to Palin on the cover with her shorts and running shoes. Would they put Romney in his running shorts or Newt...lol? I noticed a lot of pictures of Hillary were not the best either when she was running. Stupid tactics that mean nothing, really.

You're absolutely right. Clearly, anyone posing on the cover of RUNNER'S WORLD would be more appropriately attired in a sparkly ball gown and stilettoes.

welts: So sorry, but your wrong again. I suggest you google before you know the true facts. SUPPOSEDLY, the photo was taken for the "Runners World Magazine" but ended up on the cover of NEWSWEEK with the headline "How do you solve a problme like Palin?" It's right there on the internet and the magazine is Newsweek.

She willingly posed for Runner's World dressed like that, then got all butthurt when Newsweek put it out. Incidentally, you're not supposed to use the American flag like a tablecloth or chair covering. Even I know that. Apparently Sarah doesn't.....but what else is new?

Personally, I don't see the picture as sexist. It's a picture of a woman (who happens to be a politician) in running gear. Somehow, that doesn't particularly bother me. The American flag, casually draped over the furniture and being leaned on, bothers me more, as I can't see a tie-in between it and the picture, and I feel it's a bit disrespectful. That said, it's not a major deal as I see it.

This thread should be brought up every time a conservative here says anything about Michelle Obama or Nancy Pelosi's looks.... because it happens all the time around here..... but here they are getting all whiney that Michelle Bachmann & Sarah Palin weren't treated like goddesses or something equally exalted.
Just more spinning Bullcrap by the rightwing.....

Did you hear that she became a grandma again today? That's right, the baby was born 3 months after the wedding. I'm so glad that "abstinence only" is working out SO well for that family! The liberals don't have to treat the Repub women badly....the material just writes itself.

Never spoke a harsh word about Hillary, in fact I have nothing but good things to say about her. However she had harsh things to say about Obama saying he was an "empty suit" while campaigning. Maybe the Conservative women just seem to be a tad more attractive...you're pettiness is showing.

Hee! Propofol is something I used often when I was still hands-on nursing in ICU. Used properly, it's really a very good drug, provided you don't have to be on it for an extended period. There are some nasty side-effects if it has to be maintained for any period of time beyond a few days. Glad your ordeal is behind you, hon, and that a quick recovery is in order!

Who give a shit if they are attractive or not? Do you decide to vote for a man if he's a "hottie" and not vote for them if they aren't? That line of "you're just jealous & petty" is such a bullshit copout routine that got over used and worn out with Palin.

I'm not the least interested in what a candidate looks like. It's completely irrelevant. What is relevant is what that candidate actually stands for. That cannot be determined by looking at the candidate and, these days, it can't be determined by listening to the candidate. You're almost better off to pick a name from the phone book in this day and time.

Those aren't too bad, steff. Glad there were no ulcers, though. On a hunch, though, have you had a blood test for H. Pylori? That's a bacteria that can play hell with the digestive tract. Test isn't expensive and can bring an answer that's easy to treat.

Don't they automatically test for that if they find ulcers? They did with me....small biopsy because they found some. Positive for h.pylori, which cleared up with antibiotics.

They do if they find ulcers, in most cases, welts. However, steff doesn't have ulcers and, often, doctors just don't think to test for the bacteria which can cause a lot more problems than just ulcers. Some people are highly reactive to this particular bacteria, while some don't show any symptoms even if they are infected with it. Nasty stuff if it nails you, though.
