This morning, I watched Gizzy chase down, kill and eat a cricket in my bathroom. Somewhat surprising, since Gizzy does not move fast.
He left the legs of the cricket on the bathroom rug.

Moths are the big deal in my house.... nom nom nom. The girls (who are allowed to wander in the front yard) like to chase crickets and grasshoppers, but normally don't kill or eat them. Although they both eat grass, which only gives one the 'usual' reaction to such... I think Dragonfly is part goat...
My parent's dogs like to try to eat the houseflies... that's pretty entertaining

My black cat snags lots of flies-she's really fast. But my favorite are the mouse parts left on the door mat. Yum-oh!

I once had a male cat who like to leave little headless cricket bodies lined up by the door.
It was my present for when I came home.

Mich, once set my water dragon(lizard) after a huge local cricket that had wandered into my place. Took him awhile but he got it and no cricket part leftovers. ;D For some odd reason this lizard loved white moths, so I would catch them occasionally and put them in his cage for snacks. Tell Gizzy to eat the full cricket next time.

My daughter has 4 kitties and there isn't a thing that gets past 2 of the cats. Momma cat is the oldest and too fat to bother chasing anything and baby cat is the new and youngest of the 4. She is too feminine to hunt, but does like to chase the occasional flying critter. The two middle cats........ out and out killers!

My girl cats have always been the best hunters. I think my big, male siamese only catches stuff by laying on it.

This is usually Gizzy's mode of action as well - which was why I was so surprised to see him actually MOVE to chase down the cricket.

Grrrr TD.
Brigdet... I'll raise your headless crickets with a cleaned (nothing but skin and fur) rabbit pelt and spinal column that my feral cats left on my back steps for me..... a different time, it was the pelt and the skull, they were still finishing off the hock on the porch when i got home to find that one

Carolina,
You can keep it. Mine are indoor so they can catch more insects than mammals.
Now, my sister had an outdoor cat and she left similar presents on the front porch. And then the cat started bringing home half eaten baby bunnies. (as well as voles, mice and a shrew - I had never seen a shrew (albeit a dead shrew) in real life before.)
Shudder.
Sometimes I think I keep them inside more for me than for them.
