I'm just following the same logic as those blaming the TEA Party for the credit downgrade.
If this had all happened in the wake of passing "Cut, Cap, & Balance" into law; perhaps there'd be a point to be made. But S&P stated specifically had that happened, there wouldn't have been a downgrade.
So, how is it some people can blame a movement that didn't get anything it wanted.
No, this is a Democrat - RINO problem now and it's going to be up to voters to deal with it in 2012.
And we will.

People are willing to point fingers because it's easier than facing issues. It's a distraction used by the weak to kick the can further down the road rather than get off their collective backsides and do something. We've had 50+ years of wasteful deficit spending and people want to blame the TP for the downgrade. I'm not even a member of this TP and I still think it's a completely idiotic conclusion to draw from the downgrade....IMHO of course. Keep ignoring the message from S&P...maybe the problems will go away.

Perhaps the right wingers should not have claimed the tea party victorious in the debt limit talks.

There is plenty of blame to go around.A couple of the big reasons S&P gave for their down grade was the holding of the debt limit hostage, and the very distinct possibility of it happening again. Tea party elected office holders were a big part of that.Dems prefered a clean bill. Another was the refusal of any sort of revenue increases, which dems wanted and tea party elected office holders were a large part of refusing..... They are not blameless.

That would work if the Tea party people were only the messengers. Since they weren't you get a fail. Again. There's no disagreement as the message, but to the methods. But that's okay, just more Conservative cross-bearing; they playing the victim. So then nobody should be charged for attempted murder? They didn't get everything they wanted either. And again, it was the method. Also, because they didn't get everything, they must have got absolutely nothing. Po' pitful Tea Party! "Disapproval Rate for Congress at Record 82% After Debt Talks" www.nytimes.com/2011/08/05/us/politics/05poll.html?_r=1Good luck with that. Guess who got most of the blame for this?

The TP didn't cause the problems that led to the downgrade. We've had 50+ years of deficit spending as well as 50+ years of tax increases AND tax decreases. It makes about as much sense to blame the TP for the downgrade as it does to blame Obama...or Bush...or Dems...or repubs. Neither dems or repubs have had absolute control of everything for the last 50+ years. I certainly don't blame the TP backed politicians for the downgrade. If anything, I give them credit for making our problems an issue now rather than waiting until it's too late.. This has resulted in a friendly warning shot across the bow to tell us to change course before the torpedoes are fired. We really need to ask ourselves...was the message " Blame the TP" or was it " Change course now"?

Many of the elected officials that claim to be teaparty members have without a doubt added to the debt.To claim they haven't is just foolish.

A lot of people are blaming the extreme right for the debt ceiling fiasco. Whether or not that blame is warranted, the extreme right is being blamed. You do not have 2012 in the bag just yet, imo.
