on the so called compromise in Washington last week..how about hearing the same from off shore..how six major countries feel about the shenanigans done in our Capital...kind of interesting and revealing.. ------------------------------------- globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/05/listen-up-america-the-world-is-dismayed/-------------------------------------- [Click on link to read complete article] -------------------------------------- Listen up, America! The world is dismayed
-------------------------- United Arab Emirates – “The Congressional melodrama is over, for now, and in Washington they are tallying up winners and losers, in the insiders' calculus of electoral opportunism,” says an editorial in the Abu Dhabi-based National. “The rest of the world, meanwhile, can only shake its head in dismay that matters so crucial to the global economy must be decided through such a slipshod process.” "[C]onventional wisdom was that $4 trillion (Dh14.7 trillion) in cuts would be needed just to start the federal government back towards balance-sheet respectability; this deal provides a maximum of $2.4 trillion. Even that figure represents not spending cuts, but merely reductions in planned spending increases over time." Germany – “The issue at hand is not just one of the trillions of dollars in federal debt,” writes the Berlin-based Die Welt, “It is about the fate of what has long been the world's largest economy, and the role the U.S. plays in the world.” “On the one hand, there are the social democratic policies à la Obama, which in the spectrum of the U.S. belong to the left wing. On the other hand are are the father-knows-best austerity policies of the Tea Party. The Republicans block out the fact that in 2001 George W. Bush took over a solid budget from Bill Clinton, then waged a war without end in Afghanistan, and an unnecessary one in Iraq, all the while lowering taxes for those on the top." {Four more to hear from, just click on link}

Funny how they left out Kuwait & didn't comment on Libya? Maybe they agreed with those wars?

Perhaps some people are too young to recall how President George Herbert Walker ("Pappy") Bush came to the aid of Kuwait (as well as British Petroleum and Gulf Oil) after they were threatened by Saddam Hussein... ubfortunately, Pappy didn't complete the job of deposing the bellicose Saddam. I recall how Pappy pulled back the US troops just short of achieving the objective of deposing the tyrant. Despite the fact that going back in at a later date was pretty much inevitable... Funny thing, Saddam probably never would have tried to bully Kuwait in the first place... if the Bush Administration and State Dept. had not given Iraq conflicting information about what the US would or would not do in Kuwait's interest. It was all very Macchiavellian... plots and schemes and ploys and ruses. Tricksters and deceivers. Oil money always seems to bring out the worst of Greed and venality in people.
