"69% Say It’s Likely Scientists Have Falsified Global Warming Research"
Very misleading- but expected.
"The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that 69% say it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data in order to support their own theories and beliefs, including 40% who say this is Very Likely.
All in how you word the question isn't it. I find it very likely that some scientists have falsified global warming data- namely the ones working for oil companies and the host of other groups out to try and convince the public that it is in dispute. Those would be included in the question too, no?

Believing that some scientists (on either side) may have falsified data isn't the same as saying global warming is a hoax. I don't doubt there was a scientist or two that tried to falsify data - this occurs in every field of study. I don't believe that the majority of scientists did such a thing, nor do I believe global warming is a hoax.

All wording. In another poll 75% of people say it is at least somewhat likely that some priests molest young boys. Does that mean 75% of people think priests are child molesters?
Anyone seen a poll where a majority of the people think global warming is a hoax (Fox viewer/talk radio blowhard listener polls not withstanding)?

... nor do I believe global warming is a hoax. At one point in time the globe was a sea of molten lava. Another point in time, we were a ball of ice flying around the sun. I really doubt people think global warming or global cooling is a hoax.

The easier path of course is to ignore it and live for the present- let the Earth do what it does and worst case it shrugs us off. Maybe it is for the best- extinct our flawed species and try again down the road. Funny thing about it is I thought the conservatives were all for personal responsibility and planning for the future- but I guess that only applies when they are pointing the finger at the poor- it certainly doesn't apply to the corporations they run and are run by- there short term gains are the norm and any form of responsibility to anything goes out the window, regardless of the costs to society or the environment.

"Cognitive dissonance" is a bizarre phenomenon. Those who have decided to ignore reality and embrace delusion are difficult to dissuade from that course.

It's just that there are primarily two sides, each of whom are absolutely certain that the other side has cognitive dissonance, aka Kool Aid drinking. Personally, I think both those sides are correct.

It's like this- the far right wants industry free from regulation so it can shit into the environment at will, the far left wants industry to not make shit in the first place. Then there are the rest of us who understand that we all are gonna have to live with some shit but see the need for proper shit regulation.

The results are consistent with the poll I ran here on P&M a month or so back.

Polling the general population on global warming makes as much sense as polling the general population on what part to replace on your vehicle if it isn't running. I don't have the background to make critical assessments of the research. I don't have the interest in gaining that background and then doing the critical assessments necessary to make an informed decision on the topic. I elect people to do that heavy lifting for me.

We could correct man actions 100% and get slammed with a super Volcano that would put the world into a 10 year winter and Freeze the food and energy system by blocking the sun.. No wood and No rice etc.. The relationship of global warming to CO2 is Global warming leads CO2 increase by some 500-1000 years .. to numbers like 1,500 vs the 350 we see today.. ETC Histor for the last billion pears has this cycle nine time.. We are past due!! Yellow stone could be the real thing. Just a thought, Bi Metal Au Pt

Here's a fun experiment to try. Next time you have a medical condition, don't see a doctor or any medical expert, but set up a poll. Call a bunch of people, tell them your conditions, and follow the advice of the majority. Any takers?

We could correct man actions 100% and get slammed with a super Volcano that would put the world into a 10 year winter and Freeze the food and energy system by blocking the sun.. No wood and No rice etc. Mother nature is always stronger than man. Thankfully she doesn't always flex her muscles. As far as the "man-made global warming believers go, look at the bright side. The globe is much cleaner than it was during the industrial revolution. Not because of global warming fear mongering, but for environmental concerns...aka cleaner air/water/land....and it we as a planet of people will continually improve on that. As it does, co2 reductions will occur. Unless you favor forcing people to live like the Amish, none of this will happen over night no matter how many global crisis alarms are rung. If we're not moving fast enough towards a completely green society, by all means, invest your time, energy, and money into finding more green solutions and speed up the process.

As with most of the proponents and dissenters here for global warming. Over the years, man has quite the fixation with controlling the weather and nature. When the bigger government and more taxes liberals start to use this weather control fixation as another tax revenue source (Cap and trade anyone) the more educated dissenters will start to speak up. Nasa for one. It wasn't that long ago that all the scientists were predicting that we were starting the next ice age. All the headlines, the hype, the worry. We're all going to freeze to death. Now it's heat. This too shall pass, hopefully with no economy destroying legislation. I wonder what the next grandstanding chicken little (Gore) is going to come up with.
