A liberal version of the Tea Party?I'm sure that it's just me but I thought there was a liberal version of the Tea Party already. It's called the Democratic party. There are two, the American Communist Party and the Green Party. That would be Van Jones, the green czar, whom Obama appointed, without vetting, with his inflammatory remarks, but didn't last long.

What I remember most about SOTH was the way Shotcaller always had his number. It was freakin' hilarious.

I agree with the above, with out the Tea party, I wonder if we would have cuts in spending..however after admitting that, it's their extremism and demands of complete observing of all their ideas that scares me. *snip* To some a appropriate response , to me , scary as hell..like who are these people, do I want them in my life..if West gets treated like this, how would this middle to the left be treated.. To feel one has all the answers on all things and all others unless they agree on all things are suspect..not what I want as elected leaders of my country..while they may have a few good ideas, as all despots seem to do, and they are in my book, showing the colors of despots, the negatives always out weigh any positives, and usually in a big way. Do you realize that you could also be very well describing Obama with his partisan politics, refusal to compromise unless forced, "we won", "elections have consequences", cram down of Obamacare, etc... A big difference though is that the Tea Party is fighting to get government OUT of your lives which is the antithesis of despots while Obama is doing all he can to confiscate more wealth and spread it around as he sees fit. He is most certainly not just after the rich but everyone who uses fuel (you can thank the Tea Party and GOP for shutting down cap and tax). And of course, he is royally screwing up healthcare in a way that will not only cost us trillions but may also cause more people to lose coverage than gain it! Does the Tea party have all the ideas? Probably not but they are a far better alternative in terms of capping spending that Obama or Bush who was not the conservative that some think. Certainly, they have less interest in interfering with your life than the left does.

There would not be budgeting or cutting back on spending, as the over-excessive addiction that Obama has would just put us over the edge of borrowing and printing. Somehow, I don't even think he realizes how serious a deal this is. The tea party emerged as the party of common sense. k to you....

Hee! As I said, deminmaine, that was one of my dad's favorite quotes. I think, if I'd forgotten who said it, daddy would have come back from the grave to slap me senseless! ;D

My dad certainly thought so. He bored me near tears with tales of "The Great Senator Moynihan" on more than one occasion!

The tea party emerged as the party of common sense. k to you.... i am not at all sure that is true. i think their would have been spending cuts, or at least caps that would have had the same affect over time. HOWEVER, i will also freely admit that their stand forced this issue to happen far more quickly and in a greater scale than it otherwise would. whether that is a good or a bad thing for our nation remains to be seen. if it stalls the economy and sends us into a second recession, that will decrease revenues even further, which will make the deficit grow. i think the possibility is real, but the probability is low.

A liberal version of the Tea Party?
One could infer lately that the progressive wing or the Democratic Party or the far left is now licking their wounds in the Nation's Capital since the Tea Party was able to shape the debate in Washington DC.....The liberal media has tried in vain to paint the Tea Party as just a bunch of Rabble Rousers from outside the Capital but that turned out to be just their usual spin and hype again.

I love how people tell you to "lighten up" or whatever as a way to skirt around talking about the points we were trying to talk about. When you can no longer stick to the debate, veer off onto a tangent that has nothing to do with anything. you would be hard pressed to find a second example of an exchange where i told someone to lighten up on this board. i take posters other than you fairly seriously.

lighten up. you'll live longer. if i was insulting you, i would use cuss words. I think you need to lighten up. But again, i will ask, what did i say that was "factually" wrong to prompt such a nonsensical response in the first place? i think it was something about the Tea Party being a true grass roots movement, devoid of any direction and financing from places like Freedom Works. that was funny.
