Boehner briefed Limbaugh on debt plan By Alicia M. Cohn - 07/25/11 03:02 PM E Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) outlined the GOP's debt-ceiling plan to conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh on Monday before showing it to his conference. thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/173311-boehner-briefed-limbaugh-on-debt-planSmart political move on Boehner's part, but it would be kinda creepy if republicans get their orders from Rush Limbaugh.

oh, wait. you were serious that it was a good political move? Yes, actually I was. Whether we like it or not, Limbaugh reaches tens of millions of listeners each day. If he is on the air, giving his approval of Boehner's plan, then how can that be a bad move?

...did he ask Rush's opinion for a redraft? or did he just give him the play-by-play for the purposes of later airtime?

Oh goodness, letting a radio entertainer decide what the GOP does.

Boehner had to call in Cantor twice and Limbaugh once, already.

Given that Obama took his marching orders from the likes of Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, I'm not sure what the libs are laughing at...

Cantor clearly has a better feel for the freshman class who are pretty much running the show right now. and i am not laughing. the collapse of leadership on both sides is very distressing.

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) presented his debt-reduction plan this afternoon, which appears to offer a way out of the debt-ceiling crisis Republicans created. Indeed, by most sensible measure, Reid is offering the GOP everything it wants. So, House Republicans will gladly accept the offer and end this painful, dangerous fiasco? Of course not. Around the same time, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) put the finishing touches on his own plan, presenting it first to Rush Limbaugh, then to his own GOP caucus. Everything about it is shameless. As Ezra Klein noted, even the title is a pathetic joke: “Note that the title isn’t ‘An approach to raising the debt ceiling,’ or ‘An approach to reducing the deficit and cutting spending.’ It’s the: ‘Two-Step Approach to Hold President Obama Accountable.’”----- Sounds like it is personal. www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal/2011_07/boehner_to_dems_ill_see_your_p031087.php

If this thread is any example, things will be very hot around here as the debt limit 11th hour approaches. And much worse after resolution is obtained. IOW, it's popcorn time!!!

Just because Obama supposedly "distanced" himself from Wright and Ayers doesn't mean their influence on him goes away. Grow up people! You don't sit in someone's church or living room and listen to their fire-breathing anti-semitism or radical terrorism for DECADES and then, suddenly, dismiss all that and forget it. Real life doesn't work that way...think about it...just because Obama said two decades of sitting at the feet of a racist and a terrorist had no impression on him, you believe that?

Boehner asks Rush for stamp of approval
How about Grover Norquist??? Doesn't he have to make sure that the NO NEW TAXES pledge by Congressional Republicans is adhered to??

Actually that was part of the cut and paste from the article, not my words. My words were "sounds personal" in regards to the name Boehner gave his plan. But irregardless, I see no reason why I should be the only non partisan on a political board. That sounds rather boring.

true. and just because he was in the presence of these men doesn't mean that he was influenced by them in any significant way. Then why did he keep going back? because you don't leave your community. esp if you ORGANIZE in it. i don't expect you to believe it, ed. i am not even sure i believe it myself. however, i don't think the "if A then B" equation you are making actually works that way. you can have kids that grew up with abusers that don't abuse. you can have a pastor who is a jackass and it won't make you a jackass. it just stands to reason that people are individuals, not robots. they absorb some things, discard some things, and rebel against some things, often in unpredictable ways. an honor student can be the biggest bastard ever as an adult. and a washout in high school can become a Nobel Lauriate (sic).

The "sound personal" remark... It MAY be.
You know, Obama pretty much bullied both parties leadership pushing his ObamaCare program. At one time, I believe he stated, "I Won" in a reference to his being elected President in front of the Congressmen trying to negotiate with him.
This is payback.

I know I would highly value the opinion of a drug addict. Now I know why this deficit debate is going nowhere!

Or it could be he is trying to get his message out to the public and knows the MSM hasn't been known lately for accurate reporting
