Israel..ending their boycott of military equipment from Israel that started by De Gaul decision. I wonder how many younger posters here do not know much if anything about the man and how his decision to stop selling weapons to the State started the turning to the US as a ally and customer for military supplies so many years ago, and the build up of the States development of their own defense industry which is so formidable today, in almost all areas of these things.------------------------------------ www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/france-to-buy-israeli-made-drones-ending-42-year-weapons-embargo-1.374991-------------------------------------------------- [Click on the link to read the article] ------------------------------------------------- 12:42 24.07.11 France to buy Israeli-made drones, ending 42-year weapons embargo Israel's Aerospace Industry will sell France its largest and most sophisticated drone, the Eitan, four decades after President Charles de Gaulle banned weapons sales to Israel. By Anshel Pfeffer "The French Defense Ministry decided last week to purchase unmanned aerial vehicles from Israel, thereby bringing an end to a 42-year-old embargo on weapon purchases imposed by President Charles de Gaulle. The approved sale of Heron TP, or Eitan, will be the first time the drone is sold to a foreign country. The Eitan is the largest and most sophisticated drone made in Israel. It is assembled by Israel Aerospace Industries, and went into operational service in the Israeli Air Force a year and a half ago. The Eitan has a wingspan of 26 meters – similar to that of a Boeing 737. It is capable of carrying out reconnaissance and intelligence missions in an altitude of up to 40,000 feet, and can remain airborne 36 hours. Eitan's large size allows it to carry a variety of equipment such as radars, sensors and camera, and, theoretically, missiles."

Two things going on here. 1. France probably wants this item. 2. France see's a chance to become a best friend to Israel since the U.S. stabbed them in the back.

You & I would never agree on it because President Obama is involved so I'll just pass on this one.

DJ, I'm not speaking for oldtex here but I believe he is referring to Obama wanting to adjust the Israeli border back to the pre-1967 conditions.

I believe france is smelling serious trouble in the future and are aligning all the friends they can get. They are not buying expensive drones to show off at the Paris air show. They are well aware how the wind is blowing all over Europe.

Actually I think as I said before above some where, the Israelis make a good product, actually the Russians are bying droans from them too, and both figure why spnd all that $ developing them when they can buy off the shelf...

The average liberal has never heard that fact due to their media-induced blindness... or perhaps it is because he never actually said that. what he said was this: "The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states," it is actually not that radical. but it is unusual to say it publicly, apparently.
