I just got back from the gym and by the time I got off the elliptical, I was ready to kill someone.
A guy got on the bike next to me, not long after I started. For the next 50 minutes, he cleared his throat or coughed every 8 seconds (yeah, I timed it).

Tic from medication he's on?? DSS does that with some ADD meds if his dose is too high. That's why I had to switch meds for him last time, a slightly higher dose made him cough all dang day.....

Not that it makes it any easier to take, lol
DSS would smack himself in the head and yell at the cough to stop it, it annoyed him so much. (only did it once that I know of but still...)

Some cholesterol statin meds will also do that. I had that issue with Simvastatin. Gave it up, switched to something else, and it solved the problem. I'm sure I sounded just as annoying as Bike Guy.

Allergies will make me do that, particularly if I'm working out.

I have a perpetually runny nose when I work out. I try to take mucinex or something for it, but it only does so much, and sometimes my allergies act up and make it even worse. So then I end up sniffling a lot, and probably clearing my throat sometimes too. And I'm aware of doing it sometimes, but I probably do it twice as much without realizing it. So to anyone I work out near, I'm sorry. And I'm sorry for you too, mich. Hopefully he wasn't really sick, just allergies or something...

Snorting too much coke also causes that problem. I'm just sayin'. I've read that.

This guy has gotten onto equipment next to me before with the same result. It's just that this time it was very early in my workout and I got to listen to it for a very long time.
Also, I had earphones in my ears, so I was listening to him clear his throat/cough/snort over the TV.

I didn't know you worked out in my apartment complex gym. The first time I went there was a guy doing that and I had forgot my headphones/mp3 player. I barely survived 30 minutes. I am really have to push myself with the breathing difficulties and that just annoyed me to no end. I kept thinking the guy would end his work out and leave but noooo!!!

I SO hear you on that. I don't know how I got into college because the Saturday morning that I took my ACT test, a person with a bad cold was sitting across from me...sneezing, hacking, and sniffling the WHOLE TIME!! I just couldn't concentrate to read the different test sections. I will NEVER forget that.

Sometimes I think when people are sick they want to share the germs and make you as miserable as they are.
