OK, now I'm interested. I've been pretty much ignoring this story because I figured every news organization did this stuff, the Murdoch crew just got caught. I mean, does anyone remember the innocent old couple driving along when all of the sudden they picked up Newt Gingrich's cell phone conversation on their CB (yeah, mmm hmmm, riiiight) But this is getting serious... www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/europe/07/18/uk.phone.hacking.hoare/

...I agree that at the beginning, I just figured this was over-zealous journalism, a la "paparazzi" style... now the scandal seems that it may run deeper and have more to it...

Maybe nothing to it. Remember this guy blew the whistle about 2 years ago and no one did much investigating at the time. So now I doubt he would be a target today. At least I hope not.

To me, that was obvious from the get-go, dj. When this thing broke public, my jaw actually dropped. I didn't expect it to move quite this quickly, but the heads are rolling damned fast. This is some nasty stuff and we're not through yet.

It has heavy connections to the British Government, police, you name it. There are any number of almost undetectable poisons available to intelligence agencies and criminals...just sayin' Yep- and they're even harder to detect when the police are on the payroll.

This is some nasty stuff and we're not through yet. when Murdoch closes his flagship, some of his closest allies are arrested or quit, and he cancels a $12B takeover all in less than a fortnight, i would call that more than just your average media story. but oh....that could never happen to NEWSCORP, could it? this story makes OutFoxed seem flattering.

And they are starting the investigative ball rolling here too. Supposedly they hacked the phones of 9/11 survivors and families of victims. Heads must roll, roll, roll... Heads are going to roll for sure. I think this thing is just getting started. Murdoch & company have made too many enemies. Glenn Beck single handedly unraveled the entire global conspiracy of the left-- no doubt Soros & company are PISSED! Wouldn't put it past them to set up News Corp with a few dead bodies. This battle is the war, and both sides know it's for the whole enchilada.

Some interesting info. put out long back and now what role will it play in these phone hacked conversations? "On Sept. 6, 2001, the Thursday before the tragedy, 2,075 put options were made on United Airlines and on Sept. 10, the day before the attacks, 2,282 put options were recorded for American Airlines. Given the prices at the time, this could have yielded speculators between $2 million and $4 million in profit." SUPPRESSED DETAILS OF CRIMINAL INSIDER TRADING LEAD DIRECTLY INTO THE CIA'S HIGHEST RANKS CIA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR "BUZZY" KRONGARD MANAGED FIRM THAT HANDLED "PUT" OPTIONS ON UAL whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/illegaltades.htmlA burried US debt,no records, and the gold below removed. There certainly is some tight secrets about.

I believe the whistle blower’s dead was just coincidental but the Murdoch scandal will grow legs over here. What amazes me is the depth and far reaching effect into national politics and law enforcement this organization had.

This is just the tip of the iceburg as far as the global connections held by Murdoch's enterprises, txbo. As this thing grows legs, more is going to come out. I think a lot of people, including myself, are going to be surprised.

The thing that should really scare people is this was one media outlet that had these kinds of connections and power...and they are not even the biggest players in media. So what does that tell you about the others??? I love also how people condemn Murdoch (he was caught after all) but dismiss anything to do with Soros...Soros' empire dwarfs Murdochs' so you have to wonder what connections and power Soros wields.

Only GE and Disney out-earn News Corp and neither of those is strictly media involved. The only thing non-media-related (that I know of) that News Corp owns is the National Rugby Team.

As soon as you can proof that Soros is culpable of the same, I will comment until then I would call this a deflection.

Earnings do not equate to power or connections, though. And this scandal involved News of The World, a subsidiary of NewsCorp. This subsidiary has a much smaller audience/influence umbrella than larger media outlets.

Several of Murdoch's top people in other media organizations have already resigned over this, jkapp. You just need to do some reading. It's gone beyond News of the World. Our FBI is looking into possible hackings into the telephones of 9/11 victims, and they're not just looking at News of the World. In other words, this is much larger than you seem to realize.

same ownership. can't get much more "involved" than that. PS- News Of The World no longer exists. Murdoch folded it two weeks ago.
