this time it's because we and other country's have recognized the Libyan opposition as the legitimate government of Libya..in other words, we have taken sides. Now I know I am just a average shlub from the streets, but if a country shoots off over a hundred Tomahawk missiles at another country, have been flying re con mission against that country while supporting the rest of their allied friends who were bombing the crap out of the regime in power, and the President of your country has said that the leader and the government in power has to step down..yes, they are correct, we have taken sides, and all of a sudden they realize this? I guess I will never understand nation speak..it's a language and thought process that is foreign to most of us. ---------------------------------------------------- english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2011/07/2011718131010939797.html---------------------------------------------------- [Click on link to read article] ---------------------------------------------------- "Russian anger Russia criticized the United States and other countries on Monday for recognizing the rebel leadership as the legitimate government of Libya, saying they were taking sides in the rebellion to oust Gaddafi. "Those who declare recognition stand fully on the side of one political force in a civil war," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters in Moscow. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced recognition of the rebels on Friday during a meeting of the international contact group on Libya in Turkey. While the US, UK and France have taken a stronger line towards Gaddafi, Russia and China have taken a softer line, with both countries not attending the contact group meeting."

Russia has a huge financial stake in Lybia. They see that may slip away with a new regime. With Quaddifi gone no body can accurately predict what the out come will be. They know what theve got but don't know what they will get.

Russia is no longer germaine to most conversations. They are a 3rd world country, which has a few left over nukes. Otherwise, no one would pay any attention to them.

Whum, almost seems like we made war against Libya, but of course dear leader says we haven't, so I guess we haven't.
