Any 'Republican' Now Leads Obama by 8 "any".. I have a hard time believing Pawlenty or Ole Newtie would lead Obama in any polls...except possibly for Rasmussen who just polls conservatives or Fox Fans...

I know that I should use this post to dig at Democrats but I'm just not in the mood (probably not enough coffee). Last night as I was surfing the net I did notice there are were a lot of anti Obama links. Understand this wasn't on political sites, just sites in general. In one link list (again not a political site or one that is a conservative hang out) I saw 3 links to anti Obama posts & none for pro Obama.
On the one hand it makes me feel good (I look at President Obama as a socialist & believe he is the worst thing that's happened to this country since FDR started us down that path). On the other hand it truly bothers me that it seems to be the economy that I killing his chances of re election rather than his policies. It's like a lot of brave & great people risked everything to found this country & here it is being saved (our form of government) because the masses are worried about our economy. Kind of a bittersweet victory for me.

Kind of a bittersweet victory for me. I noticed that as well because it seems even MSBC,ABC, CBS, and CNN are beginning to turn against Obama recently...they are showing how he voted against raising the debt ceiling when he was in the senate and also questioning some of his recent warnings about Social Security Checks or Medicare Payments. Also they have been comparing what Obama, Geithner and Bernanke have all said on the same issues... I guess my point is that Obama in under a microscope and even the Liberal Media are going after him if he flubs up or misstates the facts.. Anyhow that is my impression and I am far from a Political Expert or Liberal Elite Political Junkie...but one's old, old and I mean very old man's stated opinion which I understand is permissible here, I do believe? ??

I am still waiting to find out who "ANY" Repub will be??? Romney??? Bachmann??? Or somebody else???
My preference for the Repub Candidate is General Patraeus but the chances of that happening are probably Zero but who knows he could be drafted by the RNC because of the weak republican field so far..IMHO

I did and found nothing on his views of abortion, immigration, the EPA, Supreme Court nominees, and off shore drilling. I stopped there.

I will wait for him to be drafted and then he will be in the position to make it clear where he stands on all of the issues that would come before the POTUS.

Didn't we just have this discussion about "generic" candidates? Yes. And frankly, it's a stupid question to ask in a poll. No kidding. I would vote for a theoretical "any republican" if they met what I wanted in a candidate. Unfortunately all the real republicans likely to win the nomination don't fit what I am looking for so Obama will almost certainly get my vote.

I'm sure there were all all of the sites that I went to. Maybe you have a point & there is a lot of Anti Obama money being spent. That too would be interesting.

I keep hearing that Rasmussen is "conservative", and that may be true; but what pollsters care about is being right. That's their bread and butter. You should note that Rasmussen was almost exactly right calling the 2008 election for Obama. They are one of the most accurate polling organizations out there.

Majority of Republicans Can't Name a 2012 Favorite Romney, Bachmann most often mentioned by those with a preference by Jeffrey M. Jones PRINCETON, NJ -- More than half of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, 58%, do not express a preference when asked in an open-ended format -- with no candidates' names read -- whom they are most likely to support for the party's 2012 presidential nomination. Those who do have a preference most often mention Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann. Jul 7 - Jul 10 Generic Ballot** 47%Vote ForThe GOP Candidate39%Vote ForBarack Obama www.gallup.com/home.aspx

I think that it depends on what your really asking as to if it's a stupid question or not. The question is great if your asking if a person would vote against President Obama (thus voting for anyone that ran against him).
The answer that you get asking both of those questions is the answer to: Just how dissatisfied are you with the current president of the U.S.? The answer is that most people would vote against President Obama. I've said much the same thing myself because I will vote for ANYONE who runs against President Obama (Yes, I was the one that said he would vote for carrot top rather than President Obama). That's because I will never vote for socialism or anybody who's agenda is one of socialism.

The question is great if your asking if a person would vote against President Obama (thus voting for anyone that ran against him). the problem with "any Republican" is that it doesn't answer that question. what question it actually answers is if a person would CONSIDER voting for another candidate. i think we can both agree that this is quite a different question, and not as meaningful of one. as another poster pointed out, when you insert ANY name into that question, the numbers are almost exactly the opposite of the ones in the "any" question.

Yea but no matter what the polls show Obama looks like a loser...so guess what??? You have to deal with it.... BTW I watched Obama's press conference today and without any notes or TelePrompTer he took some tough questions from an angry Washington DC press corp and really didn't add much at all to the nervousness in the country.. Or I guess you would be hard pressed to say Obama inspires any confidence in his leadership as our country faces a financial meltdown...so we have a few more days for him to turn this situation around and I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but we don't have much choice since he is the leader of this country...I guess?? Or is he really??
