Looking at your hand (palm down) is your ring finger longer than your index finger?
I suspect we will have more individuals on this board with longer ring fingers.
There have been 100s of research studies on this. Just testing a theory.

mine is not. I would edit this survey to say that one should look at their dominant hand, not necessarily the right one. also, lay your hand flat when you look at it. make sure it is "at rest" did I mention that I read palms?

I think mine are even. Pretty close anyhow.
eta: well now that you said use your dominant hand, I'd have to say my ring finger is longer. Great, I'm not symmetrical....

Mine are even.... IIRC, it's a sex linked trait. Long ring fingers are recessive in men and dominant in women... *runs off to google* ETA: Apparently I need to see if i still have my genetic textbook somewhere. The internet seems more concerned with disorders and diseases...

Wow, now I feel like an idiot. If I hold my hand one way it looks longer, another way it looks shorter. This shouldn't be THAT hard of a question. Then my other hand's all messed up since the dog attack.

Then my other hand's all messed up since the dog attack. Mine does that too, but in the initial question she said palm down, so I went with what it looked like palm down.

My ring finger is longer as well.
It's called the 2D:4D (2nd digit/4th digit) ratio. A number of studies have shown a correlation between the 2D:4D digit ratio and various physical and behavioral traits. My theory is that the majority of women YM posters will have a longer ring finger. BTW, in the general population, the majority of females have the same length of these 2 fingers.

My ring finger is considerably longer than my index finger on both hands.
My middle finger is the longest but probably only because I tend to use that one most. ;D

mid - nothing bad, really. mine does, too. I want to see who admits to it before I say what it is. you don't surprise me, and there's a few others that I'm expecting to say so as well. obviously, I'm limited to how well I know you on this board. as far as behavioral traits - IME, the longer index finger indicates an "alpha" personality. the longer ring finger indicates a more diplomatic personality.

A low 2D:4D ratio "suggests" an individual being masculine, more aggressive, and having greater mathematical and physical abilities.

Now that I've googled it...at my last physical the doctor indicated that I had a much higher testosterone level than most men my age as well. I immediately took the report home to my wife.

Both of my ring fingers are longer than my index fingers. I read somewhere what that means but darned if I can remember now. If I casually lay my hand down, my pinkies will lay separate like the pic ture but I am able to consciously make all my fingers touch. What does it mean when they do like the picture?

My ring finger on my dominant hand is about the same size as my index finger. The ring finger on my non-dominant hand is much longer than my index finger. Was I supposed to be left handed? Heck, I'm not sure - it looks different when I look at it from different angles!

"What does it mean when they do like the picture?"
It doesn't mean anything. Linking hands to personalities is junk science at best. There's a stupid survey and statistics for everything.
