I'm sure some of you already know about "cramming". My wife called me and that she finally got a chance to go to Verizon to ask why her bills have been so high lately. They told her about cramming and they can't credit the charges. Might want to keep a good eye on your cell phone bills. They said the only way to prevent it is to block all texts. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43728825/ns/business-consumer_news/

That is so weird, we were able to get the money back because we said that company was not authorized to charge our phone. Verizon credited it back quite quickly.

Hmmmmmm. Now I wish I was there when she went. I did talk to them briefly as the phone is in my name and the rep said something along the lines of ".....since we (Verizon) have already been charged we can't credit....."

They lied to you Pig. I'd try a different Verizon store with competent people (oxymoron?) working there.

That's not a bad idea, they are all over the place here. Thank you very much for that advice Texan.

No problem.
I've dealt with the fools at Verizon before. Unless I have a major issue, I tend to use the online services because I can't stand going in to the stores and getting someone who isn't competent.

I don't carry a cell phone so luckily I don't have to deal with them so I haven't had the "pleasure". But also explains my ignorance of them.

I called, I did not go in. Maybe that was the difference?

I agree there is NO way you should eat that charge. If Verizon was stupid enough to pay it without consulting you, and if this is as documented a scam as it appears, don't let them leave you holding the bag.
I like Verizon, but I've had more negative experiences with the stores than positive ones. The employees LOVE to pass the buck, and will say anything to get you to leave. I think its funny how when in the store, they say "you have to call customer service for that" and when talking to CS, you have to handle that "in the store".

I've blocked all messages on my phone as our basic plan includes 300 anytime minutes per month, no texts. This keeps people and businesses from texting me... and it prevents cramming. (T-Mobile)

This happened to me a couple months ago. However, I caught the charges on the bill before I paid it. I called Sprint and they reversed the charges and put some sort of block on my phone so that it cannot happen again.

I have called my cell phone provider and the two times I've been crammed, I've been credited on my next month's bill.

I never take the first person I talk to's word for it. I ask for a supervisor, and keep moving up the food chain until I get results.

I always prefer to deal with problems like this in person when possible. I get the run-around too much on the phone ...put on hold... my call mysteriously "dropped" while transferring, requiring another 30-45 minutes of calling back, re-explaining, etc. Unfortunately, with regard to our phone, the acct is in my DWs name only, so they hide behind the "we can only deal with the account holder" excuse.

Pig my son's phone was crammed several months ago. I called Verizon and they credited my account for the charges. They also can put a 3rd party charge block on your phone. She does not have to block all texts. Now if someone tries to cram his phone (or ours for that matter) they can't charge anything to our lines.
Whoever you talked to on the phone was full of poop. They CAN and SHOULD credit your account.

Sprint credited me over the phone when this happened. It was only on text for $10. I know exactly what my phone bill is supposed to be every month, so it's hard for them to get one passed me. I had all short #s blocked for awhile, but realized it was inconvenient for getting my bank balance texted to me.
