Another thread got me thinking: If you were First Lady (or First Husband?) what would YOUR "platform" be?

NOTE: This thread is NOT about what Michele Obama's platform is (or should be) ... this is to share what YOUR pet project or platform would be!

For me: Spaying and Neutering of Pets, stopping puppy mills, advocating more responsible pet ownership

Reducing the size of the federal government, starting with myself by playing NO role in politics and not wasting taxpayer money taking insanely luxurious vacations with all my friends and hangers-on...

clearly one poster misunderstood the assignment.

I'm not sure what I would do. there are lots of things that interest me as far as a potential platform - volunteerism/public service in the forms of Big Brother/Big Sister type programs, working with cancer charities that improve the lives of patients and their families, "adopting" a grandparent, and other things along these lines.

there is also value, IMHO, in things like Laura Bush's literacy platform - ensuring that children in our country are taught another language. I don't care which one, but the old joke outside the US that "if you speak 3 languages, you are trilingual. if you speak two languages, you are bilingual. if you speak only one language, you are an American." yeah...that's getting old.

I think, much like Chiver, I'd advocate for more local cooperation among citizens to help those in need and care for the community in general. There's so much we can do ourselves. Donating books to the library. Helping to clean up urban blight. Childcare projects, offering of our talents and services to the city, county and individuals, pro bono.

I'm quite surprised at the number of male posters who are interested in being First Lady!

I didn't like Billy Beer but liked Billy he was a real character and he and his wife were on the Merv Griffin show a few times and he was a funny guy... his wife asked him to go to the local grocery store and pick up a loaf of bread for their dinner and two days later he called from San Juan Puerto Rico to let her know where he was....apparently he bumped into his buds on the way home form the grocery store and they had a few Billy Beers and then decided to fly down to San Juan to party hardy..

Hand UPS not Hand OUTS. Plus, I don't need a huge staff kissing my fat ass. I suppose because of things I have to do I'd need a secretary to keep things staight but that's it. I'm big on Habitat and Heifer International which now has things for the US as well. We need to clean up our own backyards before trying to do it for others.

Ok Molly if I were the first husband and my lovely wife was the President of the United States my platform would be as follows:

1. Push diet and exercise as a way of life for teenagers instead of drugs and alcohol.

2. Push for more women's athletic teams in high schools and college..


3. Participate in the wounded warriors programs.

4. Conduct tours at the USMC Museum for school kids so they can learn about Marine Corps History ..
