.------"Palin warns Boehner on debt ceiling deal By Erik Wasson - 07/10/11 06:28 PM ET Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has issued a stern warning to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) as Boehner sits down with President Obama Sunday night to negotiate a raising of the debt ceiling: don't do it. Palin, in an interview appearing in Newsweek, “made it clear that she’s against any deal that raises the debt ceiling and would hold House Speaker John Boehner’s feet to the fire if he agreed to one” according to the magazine. “No, we have to cut spending. It is imperative, and I will be very, very disappointed if Boehner and the leaders of the Republican Party cave on any kind of debt deal in the next couple of months,” she said. Palin last month told Fox News that she would be against any raising of the debt ceiling and favors holding the line and slashing spending across the board instead. But she acknoweldged that Congress will likely raise the debt ceiling anyway. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner again on Sunday said that the U.S. credit rating would suffer if the debt limit is not raised by Aug. 2—a prospect that would lead to higher interest rates and lower economic growth. Only a small minority of Republicans in Congress, such as presidential candidate Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) are taking the “just say no” approach to the debt ceiling. Most Tea Party-backed members in the House favor tying a raising of the debt ceiling to cuts, spending caps and a balanced budget amendment. In the Newsweek interview, Palin brags that she could win the White House if she chooses to run for it in 2012. " thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/budget/170585-palin-warns-boehner-on-debt-ceiling

"Here’s Boehner in November 2010: “I’ve made it pretty clear to [my caucus] that as we get into next year, it’s pretty clear that Congress is going to have to deal with [the debt limit]. We’re going to have to deal with it as adults. Whether we like it or not, the federal government has obligations and we have obligations on our part.” And here’s Boehner in December 2010: “We’ll have to find a way to help educate members and help people understand the serious problem that would exist if we didn’t do it.” Here’s Boehner in January 2011: “ would be a financial disaster, not only for us, but for the worldwide economy. I don’t think it’s a question that’s even on the table.”
And in case this wasn’t enough, Greg Sargent reminds us that as recently as mid-May, Boehner conceded on national television that raising the debt limit is the “obligation” of both parties, it’s “necessary” for policy reasons, and failure to do so risks “the end of our economy.”
Yet, despite all of this, the Speaker now believes this crisis isn’t his “problem.”"

incidentally, i should add that i reluctantly kinda like Boehner. he understands what being in government means. but he has an impossible job, right now. he is not in a position to make demands, despite what he thinks, yet he has 87 freshman who don't get that at all.
i really don't envy him.

I think he made a mistake handing the job to Cantor.IMO, Cantor threw him under the bus. I think Boehner, if he had the choice would negotiate.

There was a program regarding the kind of House leader that he is..it was suggested his personality is more along the lines of a Tip O'neill [ Not his politics of course , but the type of leader he is ] and with the house being what it is now, a Gingrich type of leader is possible needed now, which is not the way he operates. I also feel for him, and a pub I am not, but understand his problem..and since it seems the true conservatives are in the majority, I don't know what he can do here unless he can muster enough of like minded pubs TOGETHER with enough Dems to be more accommodating, get the best deal they can get..most of what they want, cut's in spending and giving in a bit on some tax loophole closings and some income raising features..and longer looks at he entitlements that will have to be adjusted and changed as well as the debt ceiling raise ..a necessity in my opinion, and he realizes it too.

Just can't stand to see opposing views can you? Do you really think the board should be one sided to fit your notions?

Or are you using that infamous liberal twist-n-turn logic to make my words mean what you think they should. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I can't stand opposing views. What an asinine assumption. I'm trying to get you to see that your idiots are no better than theirs. Apparently unsuccessfully. Take off your blinders once in a while, it's enlightening.

Why do you think what lak posted was so wrong? IMHO, lak was nothing but a spammer. He simply posted biased bullshit and rarely posted an original thought. ...and get accused of disliking opposite views. You're funny ugo. Don't need to. They don't quit every three weeks. Besides, you libs do a decent enough job of sniffing out their troll posts.

Many conservatives like to point out that Palin isn't in office and is just an average citizen doing her thang. With that said, why does anyone give her "threats" any weight at all? She's in no position for threats against those in office as an average, every day mom who likes to tour historical sights with her family. She's like those Dodger fans that want their letters to the owner blasting him entered into court records....

Who cares what she says? She is so ignorant that she is an embarrassment to her gender and her party affiliation.
