The death of a Pakistani journalist and the ouster of some American trainers has caused a rift between the US and Pakistan. As a consequence it seems that about one third, ($800 million), of the year's 2 Billion in aid is in jeopardy of not being released. The scrolling banner on my TV set also said somebody in Pakistan was less than truthful about knowing Osama bin laden was camping on their military doorstep before the May 30th raid that left him dead in his compound. As an aside, I received an email Saturday that said he has turned up on a Chicago voter registration roster with a Social Security number issued to someone with a Connecticutt address. But I hope that was just a rumor. His Social Security number should not be connected to Connecticutt, so that part is probably an error. The rest of it?, , , I'm not sure about the rest of it. Altogether, about $800 million in military aid and equipment, or over one-third of the more than $2 billion in annual American security assistance to Pakistan, could be affected, three senior United States officials said.
This aid includes about $300 million to reimburse Pakistan for some of the costs of deploying more than 100,000 soldiers along the Afghan border to combat terrorism, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in training assistance and military hardware, according to half a dozen Congressional, Pentagon and other administration officials who were granted anonymity to discuss the politically delicate matter.
Some of the curtailed aid is equipment that the United States wants to send but Pakistan now refuses to accept, like rifles, body armor and night-vision goggles that were withdrawn or held up after Pakistan ordered more than 100 trainers in the United States Special Forces to leave the country in recent weeks. That's interesting. $300 million to spread out over a hundred thousand troops. Mayin kind!!! They sure do work cheap. Obama spent over a tenth of that on just 454 people in the White House last year. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43698819/ns/world_news-the_new_york_times/

NOT A DIME should be given to Pakistan or any country that aids our enemies. That will never happen but rather just the opposite as we continue to increase foreign aid while our schools and roads are falling apart. I just talked to a cop this AM at Starbucks who told me over 200 police officers were just laid off in San Jose CA. and more are expected to be let go this year. Other cities are doing the same but not in these numbers
