Hmm. It's that ol' 1st amendment whine again, ain't it? "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech ... ". I'm not congress and I'm not liberal, but I know Congress has made no such law. I also know the amendment in question doesn't address individuals, or privately owned message boards, or employers. That's why yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater will get your arse thrown in jail, ed. That's why your employer can hand you a pink slip if you use language on their premises of which they don't approve. You really do need to learn what the heck you're spouting off about before you spout off. You're free, as is marsha, to say whatever you like. Nobody is suppressing your wee self. Babble away, just don't let your fingers bleed on the keyboard. It gets sticky.

World's Saddest Internet Arguing Techniques #8 : First Amendment Reinterpretation www.cracked.com/funny-3809-internet-argument-techniques/Watching Conservatives play the victim card is so unattractive Plus didn't anyone ever tell you, it's impossible put in that last nail of your cross by yourself? Why would we try something we can't do? I like how your argument hinges on what you said, not what we said. Shadowboxing, anyone?

It's funny how the libs keep bringing up the "First Amendment" when I never mentioned it. I guess the only exposure most of them have had to the term "free speech" is when they are "arguing" about the First Amendment...

Ahh, ed. As I said, the first amendment doesn't apply to individuals; nor, does it apply to private entities (like message boards). It applies to government ... specifically, Congress. Do learn what you're posting about ... preferably, before you post. This site can, and will decide what is acceptable here in the way of posting. You will not make that decision, and marsha will not make that decision. Moonbeam and the moderators will make that decision. You can abide by it, or not. There's your freedom. If you choose to abide by the rules, you post. If you choose not to abide by the rules you don't. It's really quite simple, ed.

Which is exactly why I am still wondering why both you and mkitty chose to mention it...

Some advice Ed, when you are already in a hole, it's a good idea to stop digging.

In all honesty, I do not believe Obama's father planned to give him up for doption. He could care less. He was only telling them anything he thought they might believe so he could stay in this country.
His actions after the birth, show this to be true.

Which is exactly why I am still wondering why both you and mkitty chose to mention it... Because, ed, you brought up "free speech". The concept of "free speech" in this nation comes directly from the first amendment. Were you asleep during Civics class?

I receive no end of lulz when I see threads like this. Marshabar does not post stories about Obama unless she thinks there's some dirt involved, so while she may not have SAID anything ugly, I can hear those anti-Obama wheels clanking away beneath her skull.
I have no doubt she felt something about this story "incriminated" the president in some scandal or another, but at least she had the good sense not to go into detail this time.
And this ...
Who gives a large, loud, and juicy mouse fart about what Obama's religion is? If you actually respect the Constitution instead of using it as a weapon (kind of like the Bible), you would realize that there are no provisions in regards to religion for presidential eligibility. Only good old fashioned religious bigotry and the demand that presidents must look, talk, smell, and believe as you do would even brand this issue as worth ... well ... a large, loud, and juicy mouse fart.
Some folks like Marsha are still desperately looking for that smoking gun, that blow job in the Oval Office, or a Watergate to pin on Obama.
You'd think after 2.5 years of sniffing through his garbage and coming up empty would tell you something by now.

A simple little strory like this enrages the libs? It's laughable. I don't care about his past anymore, however I do care what he has done in the last 2-1/2 years and it is deplorable. His record speaks for itself with the unemployment and the cloud of default hanging over our head. Doesn't have a clue how to cut spending, calling it just a bump in the road and another Stimulus will fix it all. k to Marsha

Where are you seeing "enraged libs", diamonds? I'd actually seen people having a bit of fun together. I suppose it's in the eye of the beholder, eh? I'm not much for rage.

mmhmm: I thought it was strange when you were saying "babble away" to Marsha, or possibly P.I. She wasn't even here. Just my observation and quite condescending. ok, have a good day.... ;D

Does one need to inform others when they are being condescending, or shouldn't the condescension speak for itself? Hmmm.

I just listened to a interview with the author of the book on on Obama's father..NPR..he possible said that to the immigration people, whether Obama's mother actually was talking to the Salvation Army or any agency is a who knows. Possible, but then again, she was a young woman , very independent, 18 at the time, considering mixed couple's were illegal in many parts of the States at the time, 1961/2 so few blacks in Hawai..it may have been a thought but to say it was a definite is just throwing things out there that no one knows. I didn't hear the whole interview , but a lot of it..enough that when next in the library , I may put a reserve in for the book..if they don't have it, his father was bright, but seemed to have problems.. Was a great dancer, made a impression in Hawaii when he was a student there, was able to get into, for his Doctorate Economics, Harvard, but for many reasons, he didn't flunk out, but they, Harvard , decided not to continue the aid for him to continue there..thus had to return home.
