Yeah, tex. Everybody who might claim to have an interest in him wants him to stay right where he is , , , until they can milk him dry of the US borrowing power. After that they may be over here foreclosing on some unpaid bills they're owed. Reckon what we can use to pay off some of it? Maybe some empty missile silos?

what type of news group is this? anything like the onion? I can't speak for ynet, I've never heard of it. I did, however, do a quick search on Boston.com - the online site for the Boston Globe. I can't find a link to the original reporting that was credited to the Globe in the ynet piece. Google credits a Globe reporter in a few links, but doesn't show an actual Globe story. Marsha - do you have a link to the original report?

I imagine most of our parents had thoughts about adopting us out around the age of the terrible two's. I know I did with my kids, glad I didn't now. ;D

Jacobs' book -- The Other Barack: The Bold and Reckless Life of President Obama's Father -- is scheduled to be published Tuesday. Obama's mother -- Stanley Ann Dunham, the subject of another biography published this year -- died in 1995. Obama family members and aides say they know of no adoption plan, Jacobs wrote: Robert L. Gibbs, the former White House press secretary, said at the time the document was released that President Obama had never been told that his mother had considered putting him up for adoption. Nor, Gibbs said, was Obama previously aware of the INS memo. Gibbs said that the White House had made no effort to determine if Dunham had ever had a conversation with the Salvation Army. The president, he added, "is absolutely convinced that she did not.'' content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2011/07/obamas-father-almost-put-him-up-for-adoption/1

I've got to ask, marsha ... so what? Do you really consider this news? Is it relevant to anything of import, or is it just trying to find something ugly and (what you think to be) denigrating about the president? I strongly suspect the latter. Nothing like scraping in the gutter for something to post, I suppose.

I just went directly to the Boston Globe's site, chiver. It was a lot easier to find that way.

I think it's interesting. Like what could have been had this happened or that happened (kind of like "Back to the Future"). Had he been adopted out the outcome of his life could have been totally different. Instead of being the most powerful Socialist in the world, he could have become a used car salesman. Oh wait....

He could have been born feet first like my ex on Friday the 13th or if he was adoped out he could have been raised Christian instead of.....

You know asking someone if they consider this news is funny mmhmm, I did a goggle search of Obama+Adoption, HuffPo, Salon, CBSNews, NYTimes, Telegraph.UK, WND are the first sites that popped up for me. Obviously it is news for some, well, for quite a few actually. I haven't read the story because I have zero interest in it, many peoples parents (imo) think along the lines of what could be better for the child and the parent themselves at some point in time during the pregnancy. Becoming a parent is a large responsibility that I believe few people take lightly. When my first child was born I asked myself, can I do this, do I have what it takes, would my child be better if he went to a better off family, all thoughts yet like Obama's father no action.

Adoption is a wonderful thing, in my opinion. I've an adopted cousin who's an outstanding person and who gave my aunt and uncle much happiness. To us, she's just one of our cousins. We never think of her as having been adopted. She's just a member of our family. I imagine, for most adoptive families, they feel much the same ... lucky to have a child, just as those of us who were fortunate enough to birth our own felt.

1961. Honolulu. Barack Obama, a young college student from Kenya, is under scrutiny by immigration officials, who suspect the 24-year-old is married to a woman in Kenya and a pregnant 18-year-old in Hawaii at the same time. They're also concerned about his "playboy ways" and may be looking for a reason to kick him out of the country. Obama reassures an INS agent that he divorced his Kenyan wife and plans on putting his future child up for adoption: “Subject got his USC [United States Citizen] wife ‘Hapai’ [Hawaiian for pregnant] and although they were married they do not live together and Miss Dunham is making arrangements with the Salvation Army to give the baby away,” according to a memo describing the conversation with Obama written by Lyle H. Dahling, an administrator in the Honolulu office of what was then called the US Immigration and Naturalization Service. That baby, as we know now, became the 44th president of the United States. The memo was discovered by Boston Globe writer Sally Jacobs, whose book on President Obama's father comes out next week. Former press secretary Robert Gibbs told Jacobs that Obama had never heard anything about being put up for adoption, and family members say President Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, never talked about such a possibility. Gibbs suspects that Obama the Elder was merely trying to tell the INS what they wanted to hear: “He was trying to convince immigration to let him stay. So, part of his effort was to convince immigration that some of the responsibilities that he had he would not continue to have.” That could very well be. And it's kind of moot, since, obviously, Obama wasn't put up for adoption, and both of his parents are dead. But what if he had been given away? This private family decision in 1961 would have changed the course of world history: • Barack Obama the Younger is raised by a different family, goes to a state school, makes different friends, and is shaped into a completely different person by a million other environmental factors. He graduates from a local college and becomes a middle-school social-studies teacher, like his alternate-universe mother, and enjoys hiking in his spare time. He makes the local news once after saving an injured rare bird he encountered on a trail. • Illinois state comptroller Dan Hynes wins the Democratic Senate primary in 2004 and goes on to defeat Republican Alan Keyes in a landslide in the general election. Hynes remains in the seat to this day, never giving Rod Blagojevich a "fucking golden" opportunity to sell it. Roland Burris remains unknown outside of Illinois. • Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm is chosen to deliver the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, which is warmly received and soon forgotten by history. • Hillary Clinton battles it out with John Edwards for the Democratic nomination for president in 2008, with Clinton eventually pulling ahead and winning the nod after Edwards drops out under intense media scrutiny of his relationship with Rielle Hunter. She goes on to easily trounce John McCain in the general election. • Clinton stocks her administration with familiar names from her husband's presidency, so ... that part is the same. The rest is pretty much impossible to speculate. What would have happened with health-care reform? The economic recovery? The 2010 midterms? Bo Obama? We're not even going to try. But please feel free to do so in the comments. nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/07/if_barack_obama_was_put_up_for.html

Too bad it didn't happen IMHO..because just think how much better off we the world would be today with President Hillary Rodham Clinton instead of Barrack Obama..??
Oh well we can only dream and keep hoping for better days ahead, I guess. Maybe we will see a Hillary Clinton for President campaign in 2012 when Barrack Hussein Obama is shown the door by the DNC because of his poor performance for the past four years....."Hope Springs Eternal" or "Keep Hope Alive"..

This and your preceding post bring up some interesting "what if's". Would Hillary had invaded Libya driving oil prices up for no reason? Would Hillary had ordered the assassination of Bin Laden, or brought him back for trial? Or would he still be living in Pakistan free as a bird? Then again, if the economy and banking industry had not gone belly up in 2008, would McCain be the Commander in Chief today? What if? Politics are always a series of "what if's". I am more interested in "the right now", and what can we do to get this President out in 1 1/2 years.

Would Hillary had invaded Libya driving oil prices up for no reason?]
Wasn't this a NATO decision to invade Libya to protect the Libyan citizens from being slaughtered by Qaddafi?? So my guess is YES Hillary would have OK'd that NATO decision
Would Hillary had ordered the assassination of Bin Laden, or brought him back for trial?
She would have ordered the assassination because bringing Bin Laden back to Qitmo to stand trial was considered by the State Dept and the Pentagon and they decided NO to that.
Or would he still be living in Pakistan free as a bird?
Hillary would never let Osama bin Laden live free as a bird in Pakistan...hardly likely IMHO
Then again, if the economy and banking industry had not gone belly up in 2008, would McCain be the Commander in Chief today?
No McCain would have lost to Hillary because of one basic reason; Sarah Palin as VP was a big turn off to the majority of voters.
Again just one old man's opinion who just happens to think more highly of Hillary Clinton than Obama and I think that is permissible here and doesn't violate any of the "Just Because" rules or regulations, I think??

Watching conservatives whine about liberals asking a question and calling it the suppression if free speech is especially funny and sad all at the same time. You'd think they would learn the difference, but alas, <sigh>
