And until now there has not been a peep from the big name media. Not even from Huffington Post or MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. Heck, it's as if Chris Matthews and Bill Maher are both AWOL. It looks like at least one Eurpoean country is having second thoughts about "who" has been doing the assimilating. Are muslim immigrants becomng assimilated Dutch, or are the immigrating muslims making the Dutch become assimilated islamists? Yep, the red light land of Heineken, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, legal weed, and 16 million bicycles has had enough of this multi-culti crud—especially as it pertains to the Creed of Tranquility. It appears as if the Dutch’s daftness in buying into the Kumbayah approach to relating with this wonderful, serene faith has bit ‘em in their own Euro butts.
Indeed, the sweet immigrants from Asia and Africa who, supposedly, simply wanted to expand the market for shawarma wraps in a fairer clime all of the sudden grew fangs when they got to Utrecht, became culturally defiant to Dutch distinctiveness and started killing the Netherlands’ national celebrities. Arnhem, we have a problem. townhall.com/columnists/douggiles/2011/07/03/the_dutch_ditch_multiculturalism

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Why the Dutch Archie?
Oh & I got married in Utrecht Castle.
Change that: We used to go to the flea market in Utrecht. I got married at the Zeist Castle. (Boy was I drunk that day)!

Why be unhappy with the Dutch, don't they have legal pot? The article seems to say that.
Oh, wait , , , ,maybe the muslims are not buying the pot thing. Maybe that's why the Dutch are clamping down on them. Waddaya think?
And I sure wouldn't want to be a muslim woman in a "pot is legal" country. Can you imagine what it's like to have to puff on one of them things under a sheet?

I found myself laughing aloud at you mixing up the locations of your marriage and a flea market, oldtex. You'd best not let the "little woman" see that! In fact, flowers, candy and something shiny might be in order ... just as a preventive measure! ;D

I read it as telling the muslims, especially the legal resident immigrant muslims, they'll have to take off the sheets and stick their heads up for people to see, and that smoking pot isn't a consideration. There may also be a few words in there about muslim "law" being predominant when they discuss Dutch law in general. At least that's my take on it.
Maybe that means taxi drivers won't be able to pick and choose passengers with dogs and booze bottles in tow either.
Who woodda thunk it? When can WE start thunking similar thunks?

Why should any country allow themselves to be overrun by another culture, especially one so subversive? Only America lets in any garbage that wishes to spread their filthy agenda.

Time magazine's take on the issue is just a bit different than what I found on conservative blogs across the internet: www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,2080256,00.html

I have to agree with the Amsterdam Jewish community, this attack on multiculturalism is just another political strategy to cut funding. I find it hard to believe that members here who typically support the Jewish community fail to see that Jewish and Muslim communities are working together against the ban that Wilders supports. I guess antisemitism is where ever you find it.

I still don't get it about the Dutch. I lived there 4.5 years. The Dutch (as a people) are one of the few countries in the world that actually love Americans. If they found out that your American they actually did more for you. They look at Americans as saviors of their country. (Their plan was to blow up the dikes to kill Germans in WWII. The estimate was that 40% of the Dutch people would die & they were only about a month away from doing that when American forces landed in Europe. They are also the only country that I know about that paid back debt from WWII).
Oh & while I was there they were draining a dike. They uncovered an American WWII plane. They found 1 knuckle bone in that plane. They turned out the Dutch honor guard with a casket & transported that knuckle bone (in an American flag covered coffin) to our government representatives. (& being in the military I can say for sure that every person in that honor guard had to replace the uniforms that they were wearing). So....Please explain your dislike of the Dutch. You have to know something that I don't know.

Old tex,
I wish I could say that I penned that wonderfully droll comment myself, but it was from a movie, Austin Powers. It was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the subject line and I thought that it was a fitting comment for the OP.

The Dutch were trying to be tolerant, of the intolerant Islamists. I hope the Dutch deport them all.

It is obvious. Time made the Obama cover looks so much cooler. Bush looks like a bloated, skin diseased pig on his.

Ahh, I see, Archie. I guess my vision is worse than I thought. Looks like a pretty good likeness of President Bush to me. In fact, neither of them are bad likenesses.

If President Obama's cover had a light bulb over his head it would contain: A picture of Karl Marx & a cruse missile dropping on somebody (who, it wouldn't matter).
