Our city always does a great job with its fireworks display. Unlike the surrounding suburbs, it typically has a festival followed by fireworks on July 3rd. DH and I just came from watching it. It was great.
What about your cities? Do they have a display? Do you go and watch it? Have they cut back with the current economy?

Our town has a great one, the local radio station has a 'soundtrack' to the show and there are a ton of fireworks. It's free to the public but you can supposedly see it from our house (this is the first July we've lived here, so I guess we'll see). It's always on the 4th, even when it falls on a weekday, so we'll be watching it tomorrow...

I wish they'd have had it Sat or Sunday nite. Tonight seems stupid and inconsiderate as most people have to go to work tomorrow.

I live in a small town (100k people), but there are 3 opportunities for fireworks displays. The local marine base puts on a pretty nice festival and fireworks display, with the marine band, open to the public, but if you don't have a base pass you have to walk about 1/2 mile. It was on Friday night this year and we did not attend. Usually get about 5000 people there.
Last night we went to one put on by a local church, free open to the public at their sports park (this church is the one who is famous for making several movies and they use that money to make their own sports park and put on this type of festival). We were there volunteering for our sons football booster club, didn't get to see the fireworks, but it was about a 30 minute show. Paper said there were about 15,000 attending.
Then tonight the city will have fireworks display downtown. They usually have a good show and a pretty big crowd, but we will not attend this year.
Personally, after about 5 minutes, all the fireworks look the same to me!

When I moved here 18 years ago the 4th was a huge deal. People came from surrounding communities because we had fireworks, a circus, a flea market and a parade. Today we only have a parade and it's not nearly as impressive as it used to be. Rumor has it that this will be the last year for the parade. No one is willing to take on the responsibility of coordinating the whole thing. Including me, so I'm not complaining, just sad.

They've cut back some on the firework displays in our local metro area but there are still plenty of places to go. I'm not a big fan of crowds or traffic though.

My town has fireworks July 2, and tonight. We have a small carnival in town and they provide the fireworks. I am working the detail for the show tonight, so I am 50 yards from the launch site, front row seats

We do have neighbors who put on impressive, illegal fireworks displays. Right up into the air, past the treeline.

I'm going to another town's fireworks tonight with some friends. I have no clue what my town does for celebrations. usually I do the whole day at the Esplanade, before the Pops show and fireworks over the Charles River. for the other MA posters, yup, I'm one of those crazy people! nobody's wanted to do that with me the past couple years.

They start here at 10:30pm!!! Shoot, that's an hour later than I'm used to in the south.
