NEW YORK— When President Barack Obama cited cost as a reason to bring troops home from Afghanistan, he referred to a $1 trillion price tag for America's wars. Staggering as it is, that figure grossly underestimates the total cost of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan to the U.S. Treasury and ignores more imposing costs yet to come, according to a study released Wednesday. The final bill will reach at least $3.7 trillion and could be as high as $4.4 trillion, according to the research project "Costs of War" by Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43573008/ns/world_news-south_and_central_asia/

When President Barack Obama cited cost as a reason to bring troops home from Afghanistan, he referred to a $1 trillion price tag for America's wars..but his estimate was off by @ a few trillion..but what's a few trillion by a liberal President who never meet a spending plan he didn't fall in love with..
Time to pull the plug on our Nation's three wars and bring our troops home and get our government to seek financial restitution from Iraq for all the billions we spent there on Nation Building..IMHO

Not to mention all the military personnel who have been killed or permanently disabled. I've got a nephew who is being deployed in the fall. I think as we gradually reduce our troops it's gonna get ugly over there.

Kabul was hit yesterday again by the Taliban and Iraq sectarian wars will go on forever with Muslims killing Muslims over deep seated hatreds for each other... Let the Iraqis kill each other and the Baghdad Government only wants our billions to rebuild their country so they can then destroy it ..Kabul Government officials are even more corrupt and criminal than our Washington DC Government Officials and that is saying a lot.. BTW I am realy tired of War and it's effects on our troops who somehow manage to survive, and their families.

If you haven't seen it, check out Restrepo....a 2010 documentary about the 2nd Platoon of Battle Company and their 15 month deployment in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan.....the deadliest place on earth at the time. I couldn't imagine being there for 15 minutes, never mind 15 months.

I also read a few after action reports for the battle of Baghdad in 2003 about the same time Bush made his infamous speech on the USS Abraham Lincoln to declare the war in Baghdad was over....the reports didn't seem to match that Presidential rhetoric as you recall.

I agree P.I. that it is already very ugly over there. Sadly, I do believe it's gonna get even worse up until all of our people are out of there.

The true cost of these wars has to include the thousands of servicepersons who have been killed and injured ~ and the impact of that on their families.
Enough is enough.
