Some areas aren't hit as hard. Grand Rapids is not like Detroit even though they are both in Michigan.

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

I think some of it is delayed purchases and some of it making time to actually go shopping. And we're finally making the time to start on some home repairs. We find it really hard to actually do this stuff because of the toddlers.

I had some delayed spending that we did on Monday. I had been making do with 1 bra for work since January. I finally had time to go bra shopping and buy 2 more.

So, no one thinks it is because a good number of stores are closed so people are just more concentrated?

I honestly haven't noticed any changes in shopping habits of anyone in the past several years. I don't know if I'm just not observant or what (I don't go to malls all that often). All I know is that Saturday is a bad day to go anywhere, especially Costco. I try to do my shopping in the evenings or Sunday mornings to avoid the peak crowds.

A lot of specialty stores in downtown DC, K Street Corridor have closed - stationery stores, etc. And a lot of leasing space is available. Our firm may be moving when our lease is up at the end of the year to a building with more amenities (although our current landlord is trying to sweeten the management up in order for us to stay), so we'll see how that pans out. I'm not really much of a mall shopper, never have been, so I am not noticing that trend.
