Interesting that the conservative leaning crew laments over how they are perceived considering how liberal leaning folks are portrayed. Very interesting indeed.

Your definition has nothing to do with politics, and everyone believes it.

I consider being a conservative to be liberating, and I am in no way alone. considering that "liber" is the root of liberal, i find this comment to be slightly oxymoronic. but then again, i suppose that one might find prison liberating, in a sense.

These days it means tax cuts solve everything, and trying to get health costs under control is communist, and no lie is too obscene to get power back, to cheat the non rich of its money- right off the wall and misinformed, according to the rest of the modern world. Tax cuts mean leaving money with the people that actually earned it - the money does not belong to the government by that logic, the government should go unfunded. but isn't the government an extension of the electorate? don't they empower it through social contract? and by no lesser or greater a degree than they are taxed? i really don't get this "government is the enemy of the people" shit. and even if it is TRUE, then in a democracy, we should be able to change that by electing people that MAKE IT a reflection of the people. to pretend that a government just suddenly appeared that is adversarial to our interests is to fail to recognize the living fruit of the struggles of American peoples for 7 generations.

Maybe I don't have the correct definition of conservative - but to me a conservative is independent, can support his(her) self, does not need constant government help and intervention - learns from the past, learns from his own mistakes, learns by studying, asking questions, etc. - is motivated to make his life better, tries to be prepared for contingencies - in general is a "boy scout" That's interesting. I meet all those criteria (except the boy scout part ... I'm female), but I'm not a conservative. I'm a moderate leaning a bit left in some areas and right in others. If you paint with that broad a brush, you're bound to be dead wrong a good deal of the time, vonnie. my dad is a staunch conservative, but he does not ask questions and learn by studying. he sticks with what he knows, and ONLY seeks opinion which mirrors his views. i think this is more the status quo for conservatives than the exception. like repeating Kid Rock videos over and over again.

Why? Because he smokes pot and supports candidate Gary Johnson? I love Willie. Wonder how many liberals are separated from conservatism by their weed?

Which group seems to be rebelling more against the status quo, and which group seems to be adamant in their support of the status quo between today's Conservatives and Liberals?
Well, y'all know the answers to that!
Then are today's Conservatives liberal and today's Liberals conservative?

Jon Stewart called FOX the "new hippies" a few months ago. hilarious. did you see it? if not, i can post.
