Is he calling for cuts in excess of the $500 billion Obama and the Democrats just passed? We need more than cuts- we need reform.

Guess you're not much of a history expert. Many expert historians on the Depression believe government regulation and intervention is what sent the US into the extended depression.
Seems like history does repeat itself.

The only repeat is Pubs deregulation and lack of enforcement leading to a depression, and Pub austerity measures doing NOTHING for recovery, only adding to problems. Thank God this time the Dems got in IMMEDIATELY to stop the bleeding. All the Pub whining about a deficit that is no huge deal, and cutting spending that had saved jobs and demand is stall recovery- just like in the UK. You cut spending when the recovery is firm. Hopefully it will be enough.

The Dems stimulus worked in the 30's too. Unfortunately in 1937-8 FDR listened to the Pubs whining about spending and stalled out THAT recovery. Actually I am the biggest history expert around Regulation might cut out some of the BOOM, but also a lot of the BUST pubs produce too.

Mitch is my hero! Republican congressmen and senators seeking reelection, follow Mitch.
