I just called our bank and said I only see DHs points and she said mine were in a different account. Then she said, "Wow, you can't even get rewards on debit cards anymore" Dang. Lets hope they don't catch on. So do you receive rewards for your bank cards? If so...Which bank?

We do with UsBank but we don't shop at a lot of the companies they have rewards with and the trick is you usually have to do the purchasing online. They also aren't a lot, I don't t hink I even get back 1% but I'd have to look that up.
B&N is one of their vendors, but I have to purchase online. Why when I have a brick and mortar store near my house? It isn't really worth it to use the web site just to get the rewards, IMO.
Their credit cards are much better in terms of rewards, but the vendors are exactly the same.

We did with Chase, but the new banking laws did away with it - I think I can still accrue points up until July 1 (or maybe July 31). There was a $25 annual fee, and they refunded $9 of it because the rewards are stopping.

We don't really get rewards but they do give us .10 for each debit transaction over $25, it shows up as interest earned on my monthly statements.

We use a small community bank (although they are getting bigger every day). We used to get rewards, but the program was not that good, you could only get junkie things no cash. They did away with that, but now if you do 12 transactions a month and an autodeposit you get 2.5% interest. That is better than most savings accounts. I don't keep a lot of money in the account, but usually get $4-5 per month in interest.
My daughter has checking and credit card with USAA. Their reward program is combined, and I think she still gets rewards points for the debit that can be used for cash back (or other gift cards)

No. My bank with a small credit union and I think they may have had an account that offered reward points, but they were only redeemable for "stuff" - not cash or gift cards. So we use our credit card (with 1% cash back) for everything.

We get $1 for every $100. We can use it for cash or gift cards or buy through their mall and get more for your $. We usually get starbucks cards or cash.

I have a Delta Skymiles debit card
I usually have enough to put our annual trip on first/business class from economy
This year i had to buy an additional 6000 miles for like $ 155 or so for the second seat
But paying coach and flying first class is my way of travelling

I get points from PNC when I use my debit card. The rewards are better if you use your debit card for a "signature transaction."
I suspect that screws over the retailer since they have to pay for a credit card transaction rather than a debit card transaction, but it works for me.
Not a huge return, but I typically get $50 - $100 in gift cards each year.

Yes, it's a local credit union.

I also have USAA and you get debit rewards points IF you chose to run it as a credit card, not debit with the PIN. I used my points for gift cards for the kids last Xmas and will again this year.

I'm also with USAA. They give you 1 point for every $2 on debit cards (the other poster was right, though--they won't give it to you on PIN-based transactions; you have to run it as a credit and sign for it). But they also have the USAA Member Shop. The vendors on there give you varying rewards; for example, I bought my Mac from apple.com through the Member Shop and got 2 points per dollar. I bought some clothes from another shop on the list and got 7 points per dollar. Places like Home Depot and Lowe's give you 3 points per dollar. I did most of my Christmas shopping through the Member Shop last year and racked up some good points (avoided the overcrowded mall, too!). Anyone who is or was military should definitely check them out (they also have really good auto insurance prices).

Regions gives you 1 point for every $4 on debit cards. It is relatively new, and I haven't yet accumulated enough points to do anything with them yet. They have to be run as credit so PIN-based transactions and automatic deductions don't count.
It's relatively new, and yet I think they are planning on discontinuing it. I wonder if I will ever get enough to cash in at least once before they do.

I would never use a debit card. I get 2% straight cash back with my Credit Card.

My Chase debit card (with no annual fee) accrues United Airlines miles. That will end July 12, I believe, so I will be closing the account since there are no branches close to me. Since I moved here, I only kept it open to get the miles.

I haven't used a debit card for 6 or 7 years. CC's all the way. I don't need a retailer mistake draining my bank account.

How about a retailer mistake maxing out your credit card?

How about a retailer mistake maxing out your credit card? 25k limit on the CC I use in public versus 3-4k in the account tied to my debit. I don't need my mortgage autopay bouncing because of someone elses mistake. I can't think of one benefit to using a debit card over a CC. Maybe you can help me?

Well, I have a line of credit from which transfers are made automatically if my checking account is over drawn so bouncing the mortgage payment is not a threat. By law, one's personal liability for fraudulent use of a debit card is the same as for a credit card, $50. Most retailers I deal with will give cash back with a debit card. That isn't available with a credit card unless I find an ATM. The charge retailers pay (swipe fee) for debit card tranactions is much lower than their typical payments for credit card transactions. That allows me to help out my local retailers and stick it to the banks at the same time.

Debit cards are tied to your actual money and while the fraud protections are the same, the time it can take to get that money put back into your account can be long. As for cash back - I don't use the stuff. I take out $50/month from the ATM. I charge everything I can.

As for cash back - I don't use the stuff. I take out $50/month from the ATM. I charge everything I can. I've had a debit card used fraudulently once. The bank caught it before I did. The money was back in my account within days. Like I said, I have overdraft protection. I also had a credit card used fraudulently once. I caught that one and it was also quickly cleared up. You asked for reasons to use a debit card and I gave some of mine. Clearly, you attach less weight to those benefits than I do. So be it.

commentator,
Discover has long offered to "Cash back" when you make your purchase at any retail store.

I don't have a debit card...I'm pretty sure I am the only adult that doesn't have one (I still call them MAC cards!).
My credit cards to have rewards.
