Missouri Senator Roy Blunt agrees, calling the management plan "flawed" and "poorly thought out." Sen. Blunt characterized the current flooding as "entirely preventable" and told reporters that he intends to force changes to the plan.
Yet he doesn't say settling & building on a flood plain is "flawed & poorly thought out"? Sounds to me like someone is either stupid or scared for his job.

The United States has a long history of claiming land and changing the landscape. Harnessing the mighty Mississipi to make clean energy is a good thing. We tame the land. These tree huggers will be the death of us. Their ideas are outlandish and unrealistic. They smoke too much green stuff.

Sounds like the snail darter issue here in Appalachia. Could not build a dam because the area was the only home of the snail darter. Later it was found to be a false claim and some in the enviormental group knew it at the time.

It was on the news a couple weeks ago that biologists think that the flooding will be great for the native fish populations of the Missouri. They do a live chat every morning and this was the subject they chose, I loved one post they read: "Great, maybe the fish would like to build me a new house!" I was sitting there thinking "Really? Hundreds of people are about to lose their homes but hey isn't this great for the FISH?!" Excuse me as I refrain from doing a dance of joy that the fish populations of the Missouri will now increase. Hope they enjoy living in my house.

These are heartless policies and insane. We have lunatics in leadership.
In the late sixties I knew a young man who graduated college and became this new breed of cat called a city planner. Long haired pot smoking hippy. Well I know for a fact that he was stoned out of his gourd when he came up with the idea to make some streets in town into one way streets. I was there, and as it was my hometown with which I was very familiar, I argued against it. He did it. It effed traffic up and pissed people off. It was changed back but not without a fight.
I always get the feeling that a lot that goes on with these ecofreakos and planners has to do with pot induced fantasies.

Yeah, if there were only a way to ignore posts that are mostly quotes from certain sites.

These aren't liberal policies, notice when most of this started was during Clintons' years, who had control Congress at that time?
I had heard rumors that much of the water was held back for endangered species, now I have sources, thank you.

I don't think this is happening because of eco-freaks, but I will say I don't like hearing about how well the fish population is going to be right after they get done talking about how Hamburg is about to float away. I REALLY don't care about the fish populations of the Missouri right about now and do not even understand why that is news. Course someone joked maybe we could all get jobs as fishermen after our regular jobs floated away. Had to laugh at that one.

Proof? Link? Article? Journal? Graph? Jpegs? Study? Report? Test? Map? Cereal Box?
Do you have anything at all, aside from a dubious anecdote, that supports your villainous claim?

Click the link, there is a quote from the MWCM that says to hold back excess water in the spring, why else would they be releasing 160,000 cubic ft of water per second from Gavins point other than they let it build up to long to keep water levels low this spring to mimc the natural flow of the river.

I don't know why they would magichat, I just don't think it was dirty pinko hippie eco-commies that caused this whole mess. Wow, that was a tounge twister. I do think somewhere down the line someone f-ed up though and needs to be held accountable. I know our governor is calling for an investigation, I don't know about the other downstream states.

What a tired argument to discuss whether global warming is real, man made, conspiracy or anything else. If it is man made there is no stopping it, nothing, nada zilch, if it isn't man made there is no stopping it, nothing, nada zilch. So move on discuss something you can have an effect upon. It's as if we are the gad flies discussing whether we can stop the cow from eating grass.

People who use the land and water have a vested interest in preserving the land and water. It is their life. It is when the so called "experts" take control that things start to go way wrong. There is nothing organic about top down control over natural systems.

I am not an expert on these things,so I will reserve judgement on their selective burnings or floodings decisions. But I will give you my judgement on a whole lot of other things I am not an expert on..... I think Rick Perry cutting funding for firefighting during the worst drought in a long time and legislating a day of prayer for rain instead was a bad call.

"If it is man made there is no stopping it, nothing, " Yup, give up and be Republican Of course something can be done about it, and the countries doing something have the best economies- and the healthiest people.

So let's just imagine that the US signed the Kyoto Treaty and actually found a way to reduce our emmissions to 1990 levels. What exactly are we to do about all the 3rd world countries that are exempt and outproduce the US on CO2 emissions? Why do you think I am a Republican?

Central CA is covered by fallow farms and dead orchards. Farmers were not allowed to irrigate because lower water levels in the river might be harmful to some (supposedly) endangered fish.

True. However, in this case reduced water which resulted in the loss of thousands of agricultural jobs was for the benefit of supposedly endangered fish.
