Thanks, Henry, I'll be sure to watch. Not sure I can stomach the Obama speech though.

I'll watch, Henry. I've been listening to more talk radio lately because TV was too repetitive and making me stupid, but from Beck through Red Eye I still watch FOX. I can't find anything I disagree with West on yet.. maybe tonight, huh??

I ALWAYS watch Obama, Marsha. Not good enough to read it later. I want to see the arrogant smirk.

It ought to be a very informative hour. President Obama is going to be followed by one of the community that has been prganized. The results of the kind of organizing that has been done seems to have some cracks in it, and my money is on West telling us whether his 3 years on the ground in Afghanistan was enough to identify most of those carcks and if he thinks they can be repaired.
I look forward to him either telling us what we need to do there, or telling us to find more productiive turf for our nation building efforts , , , maybe even to put some emphasis on Obama getting out of the way and letting the recovery work without his repeated interference.

Yep. I look forward to hearing from a boots on the ground man following Obama. Wow, wouldn't it be nice if West agreed with Obama.. maybe something good coming, for once? We'll see.

"What he says is pure American tradition, and that intimidates a big part of the population today." --------------------------------- In thinking about the above statement , lets just pick about the last 10 years or so of our tradition...seems we have spent about a TRILLION dollers, give or take a few Billion..of our treasure in wars..Fought two majors, one little one plus other actions around the world..Lost a bit more , 6000 plus, ouir youngest and finest in those conflicks, about 100,000 plus injured , wounded and so many have come back mentally hurt, we will be spending, rightfully by the way, but also a fact lots more in $ looking after them, healing them, compensating them for losses of limbs and mind that their participation in these events cost them.. and as the article says.. "Allen West says some things that lot of people find downright intimidating. Why not? What he says is pure American tradition, and that intimiodates a big part of the population today." are we sure they are that intimidated, are we sure that is what the American tradition is really about? Just asking..and in answer to the "why not ", to me it seems the same rhetoric, just from another mouth, and to be honest..why is it always us, how can we afford it, possible this rhetoric that it seems Americans eat up, at least the author of this piece does as I read it, just might be a bit nuts,...and if we all are really eating it up, posible we should be spending time on some Shrinks couch getting help, bercause it does not compute to me..or possible just those who are eating up this mans rhetoric and saying in effect , " this is THE man, we got/have to listen to him". We HAVE been listening to him, or at least his rhetoric, just coming from others, and look what it has gotten us. Just IMHO of course.

West said, "Whack, whack, Berrack", you're giving away the whole thing.

That AND that we do not belong in Libya.. and in Obama's speech he made a point of telling us, trying to hypnotize us to believe we can bomb the crud out of anything we want, modern technology, blahblahblah, no boots on the ground.. $10,000,000 a DAY we are spending "not at war" in Libya!!! No telling how much in Yemen, or where we will bomb next. And Obama is apparently going against the advice of the Generals in the Afghanistan thing. He's flipping going rogue, does whatever he wants. I think maybe we need a military man at the top at this time. Do we have any running??

I did have the same attitude towards President Bush. I disagreed with his decision sending the troops into Iraq. I also disagree with the slow pace of Obama's withdrawal plan. I fully support the constitutional placing of our military under the civilian control of the president. That somehow the President of the United States is "going rogue" because he made an independent decision is what I was objecting to in my post. One of my concerns with McCain for president was putting a Captain(ret) in a room full of Generals and Admirals.

DVR'd it, but haven't seen it yet. I am so proud of my Congressman, I almost tear up when I listen to him speak. I keep trying to get out to a live event, but on the two occassions I was available- he wasn't. There was standing room only and the fire marshall shut the doors two hours before West arrived. Once I stood outside and listened, but the other time there was no sound outside the actual auditorium. I have heard that you can catch him in his office and he's very receptive-- haven't tried it.
