We must have at least one guy or gal in America who can deliver a
joke like Reagan who the Republicans can run for President!

Delivering speeches? Is that what marks a great president? ugh. No but it can't hurt Archie... It can and it does hurt. It makes them look like nothing more than podium jockies who spend all day quaffing their hair and practicing looking in the mirror, rather than on anything meaningful.

At every morning muster we old, old and I mean really old timers say the pledge of allegiance to our Flag and say a prayer for Ronald Reagan for restoring our military from 1981 -1989...
Then we remain standed at attention while we listen to taps to remember our fallen...
Too bad we will never see the Reagan Years again..
BTW you have to admit that was a very funny joke unless you are not able to laugh...then what can I say except I am sorry for you..

Try this one if you didn't like the Democratic joke:
Reagan makes a witty response to a question about his age.

Too bad we will never see the Reagan Years again..
I have to agree P.I.. I was a President Reagan fan & was surprised that a lot of people didn't like him. I know, I should have known better but it still surprised me.
Something else that surprises me is that so many people that come across as being reasonably intelligent really have no clue about basic stuff like business cycles & the powers of the President. A lot of times what makes or breaks a President is not something they did but when in a business cycle they took office.
President Bush & Obama are good examples. Depending on who you support, the other one caused the recession. Well the recession was a normal business cycle that just happened to hit when a lot of over stuff was going on (like the housing & bank messes). Even though I was a Bush supporter there is no way that I would blame either of the Presidents for a "normal" business cycle. I blame Bush for not realizing that stimulus money would be used to pay down debt, not to stimulate the economy. I blame Obama for not coming up with a stimulus package but instead using every bill that the Democrats couldn't get passed in the last 20 years to try to stimulate the economy. Those things passed as a stimulus package were not designed to stimulate the economy & even with the huge amount of money spent, they haven't done so. Just my thoughts.

The Carter years were really rough for the Defense Dept so when President Reagan became our Commander in Chief things were much better ....IMHO
But my disdain for Carter is very deep and extremely personal...So Reagan was like a God send....

P.I. I'm green with envy. I wish I had your knack for telling jokes. It seems when you tell one you get the audience on its feet. When I tell one I just get clobber4ed with garbage and old shoes.
Take this one for instance. You tell it and everybody applauds, but last week when I told it I got them on their feet, okay, but only to deliver cat calls from every liberal in the world within communication distance.

Reagan made some mistakes i.e Lebanon and Iran/Contra... most military experts think if the USMC guards for the Marine Barracks at the Beirut Airport had loaded weapons that Yellow Mercedes loaded with explosives would not have been able to crash the gate....We don't know if it was Casper Weinberger or Reagan who made that dumb decision and let Col Garrathy hung out to dry as the scapegooat.

I think the mods should amend the CoC to allow issuance of a ban "just because. "

Too bad we will never see the Reagan Years again..... Actually, that is a good thing: "By the end of his term, 138 Reagan administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations." --Haynes Johnson, Sleepwalking Through History: America in the Reagan Years

Yes, it makes one long for the times we had a President who was impeached.

Yes, it makes one long for the times we had a President who was impeached. IIRC, the country was in better shape at the end of that administration than the Reagan one.

Yeah, like the time , , what was it, 141?, , Clintonites "couldn't remember" what went on during the white water investigations, or how the "missing" Hillary billing records ended up on a spare table in the White House residence?

Reagan was an awesome governor of California for eight tough years and restored our military prominence in the world community so he is OK in my book...so deal with it..
Although when we went into Lebanon we should have had more heavy weapons and also the same thing can be said about Somalia...we didn't have enough fire power to put down the insurgents in both countries
I blame Cap Weinberger and Les Aspin for those two fiascos. but the Commander in Chief is ultimately responsible as Kennedy said after the Bay of Pigs disaster..
